May 29, 1997 - Western Conference Finals Jazz vs. Rockets Game 6

I was 11 years old at the time. I still remember when John Stockton nailed that trey over Charles Barkley, the look on dudes face was priceless.

I will never forget the the absolute joy that ran through the entire Jazz bench as the buzzer sounded.

Any other thoughts on this day?

I still remeber bill waltons saying uh oh right before the pass was given to John.

"John Stockton sends the Utah Jazz to the NBA Finals"

I drove up to the Millionaire airport with an estimated 23000 other people and watched as the team flew in and drove by standing on top of their cars and suvs. One of the top three sports moments of my life.

I was 12 years old that time. I saw that game, and my top of head popped the ceiling that time. I really hated barkley and jordan. I laughed at sir charles, seeing his face, and his fake move to stop Stock. I knew I will always love that team. I think every Jazz fan has a great memory about this shot ;)

I remember that MORNING very well. I was in the army in Bosnia in a small out post listening on AFN radio. It was 5 in the morning everyone else was asleep in the tent we were all in. When the shot went in I think I woke all 6 people up in the tent jumping up and down!!! What a great day to be a Jazz fan in a far away country! :D

I was watching that game at home, and was so [censored] because they had fallen so far behind and was about to leave when they came back and tied it. Than "Stockton opne, for three, YES!! John Stockton sends the Utah Jazz to the NBA finals"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcVzcPOP0Sw That video should bring back memories.

I got all bent out of shape when the Jazz fell behind and then got a few bogus calls from the officials. I was watching with my dad and my future wife. I was so frustrated I went into the other room because I was just sure that it was going to be the same old story with the Jazz just missing their chance. So as I'm in the other room, basically pouting, I hear my dad, my girlfriend and my mom go nuts, so I never saw the shot except in replays. :|

I was 11 years old. I was grounded and my punishment was I couldnt watch the game. But my mom called me in so that I could watch that play. The only play of the game that I saw and man was it awesome. Shoulda jumped Chuck.

I was a senior in high school and had to work that night. Luckily I worked at a sporting goods store that happened to have TV's everywhere. I half worked/half watched the whole night. With about 1 minute left in the game, it was time for the night people to leave work, but instead we all gathered by the TV wall in the athletic equipment section of the store.

When Stockton hit The Shot, I think I jumped higher in the air than he did. Everyone was going nuts.

Later that night, my friend I drove to the airport to greet the team. When I got home I rewatched The Shot on the VHS recording I made of the game, over and over. Over the next few days, I think I bought every version of the "Western Conference Championship" T-Shirt that was available.

One odd thing that always sticks out about that game is how well Greg Ostertag played. Rewatch the 2nd half of that game, especially, and you'll see.
