How soon they forget

Postby TameKate on Fri Sep 04, 2009 4:33 pm

Anyone ever watch the Jaws movies? Then, later watch them again say - oh- 5 years down the road. You're just a bit older, just a bit more jaded perhaps and ready now for the chills and thrills only to find out either it wasn't what you remember, or that it still scared how when you thought you were prepared. It seems to me that this is how the NBA and fans worldwide will see the Jazz this year- How soon they forget.

FoxSports- Well Fox sports in cleveland.com is slamming Boozer still to this day, after he's been gone for how long? http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-bl ... on_20.html

"Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer is No. 7 in "10 biggest stat stuffers," defined as "the whole really is less than the sum of its parts." Anyone who watched Boozer closely in his two seasons with the Cavaliers should agree, after watching him hang around the rim to keep position for a defensive rebound, while Zydrunas Ilgauskas tried to cover both his man and Boozer's.

FoxSports.com writes about Boozer:

Why have most Utah fans soured on Boozer despite his big numbers and two All-Star Game selections over the past five years? Because he hasn't been durable, missing 134 games in that span. Because he's a lousy team leader. Because of his matador defense. And most of all, because he's greedy. Boozer planned to opt out of the last year of his Jazz contract before he realized he wouldn't get more than $12.6 million elsewhere. Even now he's trying to force a trade, but the league-wide consensus is clear: He's not as good as he thinks he is. You can bet he won't be on Team USA in 2012"

Now I know my buddy Andy can correct me stat wise on this but, um what is Carlos Boozer's stats from start of playing? I think its something like 16 points per game and 10 rebounds per game, ending in playoffs with 20.6 ppg and 13.2 rpg? Now I may not be logistically knowledgeable in the game as I would like to be, but just what do they think a power forward does? Those points, those rebounds are crucial. Yes, so he could use some wider defense with some more flexibility in his position and standing. Yes, we mostly agree that he could use a "how to talk to fans" course. But how soon they forget that he missed HOW MUCH? due to injury? 134 games? How soon they forget just who is picking up the half of pick and roll that seems a key point that all their teams look for and yet, they all complain that they never can guard well against it. How soon they forget that this is a contract ending year for Boozer. And if not Boozer, then its Milsap.

Milsap ended 08 with around 9.4 ppg career average and 6 was it rpg? Last year alone he almost doubled his ppg at around 13-14 and also went how many games with a double-double? Portland wanted him, or wanted our deal to go sour with him. Wonder why? They have a whole set of new blood, what were they worried about?

DWill, well theres nothing temporary about his constant stats , good standing, leadership and all around team player. (Fan Player too as hes now on twitter!! Thankx DWill for the camero shots~~) Who not only increased his minutes per game, his ft percentage, his ppg last year by 3 to around 19 was it? and went from average 8 assists to 10 assists per game - also injured for a chunk of time last year. Yet, they put Chris Paul from the Hornets in 10th on the fastest players. saying "To be accurate, Paul — who led the NBA in assists and steals last season — is more quick than fast. He darts here and there, dashing into passing lanes, and he changes directions as abruptly as anyone in the league. He's also adept at changing speeds, much like Dwyane Wade, which makes him more effective than someone who's 100 mph all the time. But changing speeds doesn't matter if all your speeds are slow. At top speed, Paul is more than fast enough to leave most point guards in his dust. Just ask Jason Kidd" How soon they forget that DWill in 08 was listed as "He became just the third player in NBA history to have 1500+ points, 800+ assists and shoot .500 or better in a single season" (nba.com).

DWill also won the 2008 NBA PlayStation Skills Challenge at NBA All-Star Weekend. He has the affectionate nickname in the Postma-Hatcher house as "The AnkleBitter" which we constantly scream when he switches on other guards often leaving them in the dust, or on the floor as he slides by with direction changing. Afterwards we scream out the jaws theme as they pick up the other player off said floor.

I recently saw a listing that showed the Jazz at 11th in the league as probabilities to get a title and 6th ranked in the west - "They could be the Dark Horse of the Leage" they said - after telling us we are the most insignificant, non-changing team in the league trying to ride what we had a few years ago. Who are they kidding? Just barely above the hornets? I think they need to take off the Mr Magoo Glasses.

With 3 huge guys ready to play center with a dedication that starts with the fans and rubs off on the players, also people like CJ who is picking up his training, (Please I beg you dont wear the white shoes, I want to see you not the afterglow like a bad 80's ninja movie) AK who is bulking up and strength training, and the HOPEFUL continued support and dedication from veterans like Matt Harpring (15!!) and great support and shine qualities like Brewer and Price... The Jazz are ready (knock on wood) Injury free so far, to Show the League - Just how soon they forget!!
