I LOVE THIS GUY
Kyrylo Fesenko, “Fess”, has got to be one of the best interviews ever. I can’t wait for him to do a Jazz promotion, so I can go chat with him a little bit.
Fess, as you already know, is the Jazz’s 2nd round pick, via a 76er’s draft day swap (kudos to Kevin!). No one seemed to have any idea who Fess was. Nobody expected he could even understand English, let alone have a sense of humor. He’s 7’1”, but runs the court and moves his feet on defense, something you don’t expect from the usual tall oak tree.
I’m not sure he’s the long-term project touted by the media. Looking at the backup big men, the Jazz really don’t have much! It looks like a big opportunity for him, since he’s the only real 7 footer on the team.
The only thing I heard about him in the pre-draft was that a coach asked him to put the ball on the floor and run to the other end of the court. Which Fess did, exactly as instructed, setting the ball on the floor and running to the other end of the court. The serious, dead pan, incoherent coaches didn’t get it. A great joke wasted on them.
Then, in his first interviews, I was laughing out loud. I know, it’s just because I have a warped sense of humor, but still… Fess was asked about getting his nose broken and then breaking the other players nose. He was asked why he head butted the offending player, and deadpanning, he said, “they were holding my arms down, so I couldn’t hit him.”
So what’s he going to do with his new money? He’s going to get a ‘beater’ of a car, because he’s not that good a driver. He’s playing in the same league as the guys driving Bentleys and ear bling, that’s so heavy, it elongates their ear lobes?
After his first RMR game, he was asked about his aggressive blocks and rebounds. He said, “that’s what they pay me for.”
This is better than Yogi Berra. Oh, sorry, some of you aren’t old enough to remember Yogi Bear, let alone Yogi Berra.
It’s part his delivery and part his innocent demeanor, but he just cracks me up.
I know, yu’ had ta be ther’, but tune in for his interviews.

Fesenko is awesome!
He’s fun to watch play the game… and he seems like a great interview as well.
Can’t wait for the season to get started.
K-Fez is awesome. I did not see it, but I heard someone on sports radio say he had an earring that just said K-Fez (not sure if that’s true, I never actually saw it myself). What you are saying about his sense of humor is true. In an interview he kept talking about how he was having a hard time adjusting to American Balls because the are slippery.
I love Kyrylo. He seems like a really cool guy. Actually, untill I knew about him I never had a clue what the D league was. But I just wish he would play in the NBA so I can actually see him play in New Orleans, because we don’t have a D League team down here.
