Marriage

Marriage-a process much like a cafeteria — you carefully look over the choices, select what looks the best — and pay later.

At least that was the definition I found here. But that also sounds a lot like what Larry, Jerry, and the rest of the boys have to go through. I bet three years ago when they looked over their choices, that lanky Russian guy did seem like Mr. Right. So they made a long-term commit (2011) and promised to pay–a lot! And keep paying. $63 million and counting.

Unfortunately the relationship has been rocky for quite a while, and I don’t think Jerry is much into marriage counseling. It may be too late for that anyway, now that he is very publicly asking for a divorce. Something along the lines of irreconcilable differences, I think.

But that’s just not a story that plays very well for me. I think of the great marriages I have known, like Favre and the Packers (side note: I can *not* believe they are 3 and zero!!!), Stockton and the Jazz, KG and the Wolves. Oh wait, KG’s with the Celtics now, isn’t he. I guess it happens in the best of families. But, still, that is just wrong. Almost as bad as if some long time Jazz guy left us to put on a Lakers uniform…

Of course, this story is no where near the same thing. It’s only been 6 years. Maybe there is something to that seven-year itch theory. I guess we’ll just have to keep watching the tabloids and see how the story plays out, though I am already pretty tired of hearing about it. At least Larry’s got a pretty good prenuptial in place.
