My Requisite AK-47 Blogoetry

I don’t know him. He doesn’t know me. He’s just a player in a game I enjoy. I’m sure, just like you and me, he has a life outside of basketball. A family, friends, commitments and none-of-my-businesses’. Please lets talk about something else. No one has been traded or released. He is, or maybe was, a character in an otherwise uniform world. Funky hair, funny accent, unorthodox lifestyle. Right on. Good for you Mr. Kirilenko. Different is good and boy are you different. If you stay, or if you go, it was good entertainment, and thank you for your time. And so…

What’s all the noise about?

Let’s have some respect,

This isn’t E!

Gossip and rumors mean nothing

Let’s choose to opt out.

Knocked out nearly five months ago,

Where we we fit in, we didn’t know.

But what we got was gold,

Division champs with a whole lotta soul

And one man won’t stop the show.

The new season hasn’t been put on hold.

If your an obstacle,

We’ll just drop you cold.

EnergySolutions Arena Has room for another banner to unfold…

On October 10th this will feel so old.

I just wish to say that it is my opinion that the Jazz will never win a NBA title with Jerry Sloan as head coach. His my way or the highway is about to cost Utah its best player. AK 47 is the most energetic and I think a much better player than anyone on the Jazz. He just has had the unfortunate pleasure of being with a coach that will not let him play to his fullest abilities. Sloan is trying to make Williams and Boozer another Stockton and Malone. The best thing for the Jazz to do would be to trade him or release him from his contract. AK you are the best. Sloan you are the worst.

I think you are being overly critical of Jerry. He has a great (dry) sense of humor and can be fun to be around, but he has a lot of intensity and wants to win. He puts pressure on the players to improve, play with intensity and work a proven system. He does have expectations for his players and puts pressure on them to achieve their goals. Some thrive and some crumble. Fragile AK needs special care, but he also needs prodding, so he can improve, or at least get back to the old AK-47. Big egos, fragile psyches, gangsters and slackers seem to have problems where ever they go in the NBA. It’s got to be tough to motivate unmotivated or antagonistic players. The great players seem to self motivate and have the smarts to follow directions, instead of always bucking whatever system they are in.

I understand some of your comments, but disagree that Sloan is trying to motivate AK. I feel that AK is being subdued and not given the chance to be the player he could be if the reigns were not held so tightly. Look at what he did this summer for the Russian national team. I would love to see him traded to Miami or maybe even Cleveland where his talents would not be wasted
