As I was flipping through the radio stations in the car, I came across a station that was playing Christmas carols. The music filled the air and I began to sing the familiar words, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. As I realized what I was singing, a smile crept over my face, I had to agree that October really is the most wonderful time of the year! School is back in session and the students are back in the routine. The summer’s sweltering heat has given way to cooler temperatures. The trees have put on a spectacular display as they have dressed in their beautiful fall colors and…every major league sport that I love is being played!

October gives this sports enthusiast everything she could ask for. Major League Baseball is into the playoffs with a couple of favorite teams doing well, Go Rockies and Indians! Toward the end of the month they will crown a World Series Champion for 2007. College and NFL football is in full swing and getting interesting. Soccer is finishing up (at least for the Salt Lake Real). Hockey season has begun and… Basketball is finally going to begin!

I look forward to the Jazz playing their first pre-season game this week at the Energy Solutions Arena, I anticipate that some of my questions will begin to be answered. What damage, if any, has this whole fiasco with Kirilenko done? Is Morris Almond a good for the team? Will we see more of Ronnie Brewer? (I hope so!) Why did the Jazz let Dee Brown go but kept C.J. Miles? Did boxing really help Paul Millsap? Will Memo be more consistent with the “Money Ball”? Will Boozer and Williams be ready? What crazy stunt will the Bear do next?

Ah, Yes, I do love the colder, wetter weather of October. For me, October is the most wonderful season of all!
