I’m a Jazzbots Blogger

As I was driving down the road today I was trying to decide what I was going to write about this week. I was trying to think of something that would make me sound smart, but that wasn’t happening. I then tried to think of something that would make me sound as though I knew all about sports and that wasn’t happening either so today I’m going to write about the one thing I am an expert at and that is me.

Growing up in Ohio the only sports team I can really recall are the Cleveland Browns and the player was Leroy Kelly. He was my brother’s favorite player because they shared the same name of Kelly. My dad didn’t like sports at all so if he was home a sport wasn’t something that you would find on our TV. My dad had us watching things like Bonanza, Dodge City and any other western that happen to come on. The only athletic thing I ever did was play Frisbee, roller-skating and in the winter we would ice skate on the old Wilson pond.

The middle of my Junior year we moved to Utah and what a culture shock that was. I remember seeing absolutely nothing that reminded me of Ohio. No trees, no grass, no friends, nothing. I remember saying to myself that as soon as I graduated I was out of here. Well, needless to say 31 years after graduation I’m still here and I’m a Jazzbots blogger.

Now, some may wonder how I became a blogger and to be honest I ask myself that same question as well. I laugh when I tell people because it seems odd that of all people I was one of the nine they chose. I’m not a Basketball fanatic nor am I a die-hard fan, I don’t have season tickets and the only seats I’ve ever been in have been the nosebleeds. I’m a housewife and was chosen as a housewife to write. So, don’t expect me to know it all and I won’t pretend to know it all. Don’t expect me to write about the scores because you can watch that on TV or read it in the paper. Don’t expect some amazing revelation in my blogs because you’ll be waiting a long time for that one. I’m just me. A wife, mother of four beautiful daughters and two handsome sons. I’ve been doing foster care for the last four years for teenage girls and love it. I have 5 of the most beautiful grand daughters you’ll ever see and the most amazing husband you’ll ever meet. Don’t get me wrong though. Since being married I have had to sit through some football, baseball, golf and yes basketball games on TV.

I remember going to my first Jazz game and that was seriously all it took I was hooked. I remember yelling right along with the fans and screaming (and I was just going to get out of the house). I remember going to the playoffs and having to make signs to hold up that read “We’ll huff, and we’ll puff and we’ll blow your “Shaq” down”. So, does this make me an expert? No, but it makes me a fan. Can I tell you the names of everyone out on the floor? No, but I can tell you who has the nicest legs out there. Can I tell you what Sloan is thinking? No, but I can read his lips and tell you what he’s saying. All and all I’m just a housewife who is a fan who is a Jazzbots blogger.

Thanks for being part of Jazzbots Tammy. We look forward to reading your perspective from the burbs. My wife came to the game last night and did some listening in the line over at Cafe Rio, and was amused to report that the main discussion in line focused on the fact that we’d left a photo of Andrei off the schedule poster that was handed out at the doors. The fans also had taken note that we weren’t giving away an Andrei poster this year (the dates of the giveaways are listed in the pocket schedule). True on both cases. When we had to make the decisions on who to do posters for, and who to put on the poster, was when Andrei was demanding a trade from Russia. We didn’t want to look dumb by having a player who potentially could not be playing for us plastered all over our marketing materials, so we decided to leave him off. Now that he’s back in camp and has stopped with the demands, we’ll probably start putting him back into stuff.

Tammy,

I love your outlook on being a fan. I agree that you don’t have to be an expert to be a fan. You don’t have to know all the rules or know all the players names or where they went to college. Being a fan is about having a great time and enjoying the excitement of the game. Getting together with friends and family, watching the game and having a great time is what being a fan is all about.

Well, Annie way to put me on the spot. LOL But it is my opinion that Carlos Boozer has the best legs, arms and everything else (next to my husband of course)
