Previews and the Preseason

I love movie previews. Every new movie looks passionate and exciting, and seems as if it will change the world. I would like to see a movie that is simply a bunch of previews laced together. Can you imagine that? It would be unbelievably awesome. The preseason of the NBA is like a bunch of movie previews. You never get the full story of any team or player, but you see the coming attractions.

For instance, the Ronnie Brewer Show has had some great previews. If you haven’t heard, he scored 20 in the 4th quarter alone and led the Jazz to victory against the Bucks. Preseason games don’t count for much, but that’s impressive. He has come back in great shape and with much more confidence. He will see much more time this year. If there were a midnight showing of the Ronnie Brewer Show, I would be there because my hopes are high.

(On a side note, I spoke with Ronnie Brewer once when I worked at Flemings. I asked him who had won the Phoenix/San Antonio game, and he told me Phoenix. I sat there in silence for quite some time, then said an awkward thank you and ran off to refill waters. It had took me about ten minutes to build up the confidence to ask him, but yes, I have spoke with Ronnie Brewer. I am not sure if I would consider us friends, but we are close.)

Moving on, I am excited for Deron Williams: Episode Three. He was unbelievable in the play-offs last year, and I cannot see how he would not continue to improve. He averaged 19.2 points a game during the play-offs. In limited time, this preseason he has averaged 12.3 points a game. Also, he played this summer for Team USA where he hopefully learned from the other great players on that team. Deron Williams is going to become a blockbuster hit.

Next, an action/drama called AK47: The Block Heard Around the World. Andrei has looked good this preseason. AK47 fits a typical drama storyline. The beginning scene is usually very intense (AK demanding a trade). Then things settle and the audience thinks life is going to work out for the troubled man (AK’s current status). Then there is a climax and you never know quite how it is going to unfold. I would bet the climax is going to come during the regular season. Tears will be shed, hearts will be broken. It’ll be intense, but it will settle things once and for all (hopefully, but don’t be surprised if there is a sequel.) It will be a thrill ride.
