Jazz Top Sixers
My coverage of last night’s game…
Final Score Jazz 101 Sixers 93
Good outing by the Jazz.
The starters played very well and executed the game plan.
Jason Hart got the primary minutes as the back up point guard
Ronnie Brewer further solidified himself as the shooting guard. He was very active and played well off the rest of the players.
Jazz shot 52% and had 32 assists on 43 field goals
Boozer played nearly 25 minutes. The most on the team.
The Jazz starters went 31 of 43 from the field
8:09 4th Quarter Jazz 90 Sixers 77
CJ Miles just had a nice two play offensive set. He hit a three from the left corner and then on the next possession he got an open look in transition from 20 and ball faked and drove to the basket for a nice assist to Booz. It shows a lot he didn’t take that look and drove.
End of 3 Quarters Jazz 83 Sixers 69
Jazz starters are playing very well. They are executing and playing the game correctly
Ronnie Brewer continues to look comfortable with the starting group.
Jason Hart was the first guard off the bench
Paul Milsap has incredible hands.
Jason Hart had a nice defensive stop to close the quarter
Okur had a nice Quarter and now has 15 points, 9 in the quarter
Halftime Jazz 55 Sixers 51
Not much to say about the final 5:56.
Ronnie Price hit a J and made a nice drive and kick. Not a lot of guys can penetrate and pass in the paint and he was able to do that.
Fesenko is really talented. He is big, has very good hands, he moves surprisingly well. He has very good body control. He moves on a side slip very well for his height. He may have enough to stay with the big club.
5:56 2nd Quarter — Jazz 41 Sixers 30
CJ Miles gets some second quarter minutes
Jerry clears the bench up 37-30; Donnell Harvey and Ronnie Price in the game.
Carlos Boozer is fantastically tenacious.
Ronnie Price is now playing the point.
End of 1st Quarter — Jazz 35 Sixers 21
Jazz seem to be in a pretty regular rotation. Hart was first off the bench playing the back up point. Then Milsap entered for Boozer. Giricek came in for AK.
Ronnie Brewer hit a 16 footer. If he hits that shot he starts.
Ronnie Brewer was terrific on the offensive end with 12 points.
The defense seemed solid the entire game, but it will be up to Jerry to tell me that.
2nd Quarter starts with Deron: Giricek: AK: Milsap and Collins
2:28 1st Quarter - Jazz 29 Sixers 14
The Sixers are playing really soft, but give the Jazz credit they are executing the offense and taking advantage.
Jason Hart is in with the starters. This is a key stretch to watch. Hart has not played well so far in games, but he has not been on the floor with players that let him show his strengths.
Andre Miller blew by Hart is a secondary break. Hart missed a drive to the basket. Hart gets in the paint aggressively but I have yet to see him be able to finish in traffic.
6:11 1st Quarter — Jazz 19 Sixers 10
The ultimate play for the Jazz just took place. Igudola drove AK blocked it creating a fast break lead by Deron Williams who gave it to a slashing Ronnie Brewer for the dunk. That is what you need out of each guy.
Philadelphia has an awful roster
Ronnie Brewer has 6 points all on lay-ups or dunks.
Jazz are executing the offense very well.
Pre-Game News
Matt Harpring is not with the team. He is California seeing a performance specialist about his knee and his ankle.
Ronnie Brewer is in the starting line-up.
Phil Johnson said yesterday on the Fab 5 at 5 on 1320, K-Fan that they will need to narrow in on their back-up point guard in the near future. I would guess it is Jason Hart.
