Who’s your daddy?

I asked my sixth graders to tell me how their lives might be different if their dad was an NBA player. Their answers really surprised me. Here is how some of them responded:

Allie wrote; “If my dad was on the Jazz team, I would probably live in the same house but we would be able to get some more stuff that we wanted, but we would try not to show off. We would be able to get another boat and my dad probably would not have the friends from work. I would be able to go to all of the games.”

“I would get to go to basketball games a lot and we would be richer, and my dad would be famous. I would want my dad to be Morris Almond, because he is really nice and cool. My life would also change because my dad wouldn’t have as much time to help me with stuff. I would also be better at basketball because of him. I would also probably have more friends because of him.” — Ryan

“I think that it would be really hard to have my dad gone so much. He would only be home every once in a while. I wouldn’t be able to play with him and talk to him as much as my real dad. The reason I would like my dad to be in the NBA is because I could watch the game and be proud my dad was working hard on his dream. I would also be happy for him as he achieved his goal. I’d also be rich!” –Logan

MR wrote that it “would be so cool if my dad was an NBA player. Hopefully, he would be a good player so we would have a big house and live in the lap of luxury. It would be cool to get great seats every home game. I could have an i-phone and a big house. We would have a pool and 65 inch tv. That would be awesome, that would be the life!”

and finally…

“It would be sweet. Everyone would respect me. I would have a sweet house and would be spoiled out of my mind. I would ski a ton because I could afford it.” –JN

It kind of says it all, doesn’t it.
