10 Things I Learned in Game 1
1. Boler and Booner’s pre-game repartee leaves something to be desired. Admittedly, this is not a new discovery, but head shaving discussions? Just grow it back Ron.
2. Contrary to what Thurl thought, it does not look like we will miss Fischer. Williams and Boozer (newly designated team captains) have the leadership thing well in hand.
3. As good as the Baron is, and he is really good, he can’t carry the Warriors by himself. Especially with no help from his perimeter shooters. Golden State has a long month to grind through without Jax.
4. Officiating skills are still in short supply. Again, not a new discovery, but zero fouls against Golden State in the first quarter?!? On the other hand, if a carrying call juices Deron, I say - Go for it Refs!
5. We have found our shooting (and making) guard and his name is Brewer. Does anyone else see the humor in a Utah team that has a Boozer and a Brewer in its starting line-up?
6. The RMR got it right with their MVP choice. Millsap is a monster.
7. Ellis needs flopping lessons. Maybe Collins could help him with that, but he didn’t play enough last night to show him. And this is not a bad thing.
8. We still need Horny’s help. Not for AK, even if he was designated as a “shooting dud” last night. I am more worried about Memo than Andrei. At least AK took the open shots, and his other contributions were excellent. Can’t say the same for Memo.
9. “Where Amazing Happens” must be an accurate slogan for the Oakland arena. Sloan actually complimented his team after the win saying “You know how hard it is to play in their building and how excited their fans are, so it was a good win in that respect. I thought we played a lot better than I had originally anticipated.”
10. I will take Sloaner ball over Nellie ball any day of the week. Go Jazz!!

Nice!!!
I especially liked the Brewer and Boozer comment.
That coming from a true Jazzaholic.
i agree!!
memo will snap out of it and AK’s going to be just fine this year
DW and Booze= unstoppable
You may be right about not missing Fisher’s leadership. However, watching the Lakers game on Tuesday night he still hit the big shots down the stretch. I agree about Memo, I don’t think he’s been on since before the All-Star game last year. Hopefully he will be able to slow down Yao tonight like he did in the playoffs. Fun blog by the way!
Thanks for the comments guys. And boy do I hope Memo snaps out of it. I was buying into the baby distraction theory for a while last year, as I agree he hasn’t been the same guy since the All-Star break. But he wasn’t any better against the Rockets last night, and I am more concerned now. AK’s play has been a relief though.
BTW, Love your handle J R !
