Now, My Take: Jazz vs. Warriors

At halftime of last night’s game, I turned to my wife and said it was time to turn off the television.

Hey, hey, hey, get your mind out of the gutter. I’m talking sleep.

Point was, we didn’t need to watch the rest of the Jazz game. It was over, early.

After two quarters, it was clear the Jazz were going to bury the tricked up Warriors. Aside from a few exceptions, notably a stretch in the third quarter, the Jazz dominated.

A few observations:

- The Jazz will have two All-Stars. Mark it down.

Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams are that good. Right now.

I dare say, these two will be better than that other dynamic duo who ruled the hardwood in Utah for nearly two decades.

At crunch time, who you picking - Karl Malone or Boozer? I’m taking the ex-Dukie.

Malone was a beast for nearly 20 years, the best run in NBA history. Without him, the Jazz might not even be in Utah - but his struggles in the clutch are well chronicled.

I’m saying in 20 years Boozer won’t have that reputation. Late in fourth quarters of playoff games, he will come through.

And Williams will be right there next to him. Within three years - maybe even less, depending on Steve Nash’s durability - Williams will be the best point guard on Planet Earth.

All of this after only one game? No way.

This has been building, going back to each player’s college career. And it will continue for several years.

Enjoy the ride.

- Be happy Andrei.

Kirilenko’s performance last night (9 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks) is cause for great optimism. Those kind of numbers are exactly the kind that make Jazz management smile.

If Kirilenko can’t be satisfied after this game, then trade him immediately. He did exactly what they need him to do for 82 games and a long playoff run.

- Right on Ronnie.

Ronnie Brewer has grabbed hold of the starting 2-guard position. It’s his to keep.

Now it’s up to Jerry Sloan to keep Brewer’s confidence growing. Sloan needs to continue playing Brewer, even through the struggles that are sure to come.

who watched the game last night? i mean really watched!. . the actua game was closer than the score indicated. In my opinion that just shows how much better the jazz are. Deron W and Carlos B playing like that theyre contenders. throw in AK’s night, lack of Memo due to fouls, Brewer finishing strong, and Millsap battling inside as usual theyre gonna be a handfull for ANY team in the NBA, yes that includes the spurs, mavs, suns, celtics and any other team you might think is good.

Andrei should be happy. He can go home during the offseason and be the superstar scorer but he has to realize the greatest basketball teams were exactly that… TEAMS. As long as AK plays his role of blocking shots, making seemingly impossible passes and pickpocketing the ball I’m on board the AK47 train. If he continues to think he needs to score 20 plus a night then I’m getting off at the next stop (and it better not be Moscow). Be happy indeed AK.
