Ocean liner sinks - NBA scouts on board
A few things that I noticed while watching the Jazz vs. Houston game:
- Fess looked like a kid in a Christmas movie at the beginning of the game with all of the fireworks and such. He appeared to be awestruck, it was cute.
- Ronnie Brewer is still awesome.
- Andrei Kirilenko has stepped up. I’m impressed, he’s weathered criticism and is playing hard.
- Memo had flashes of “money” which was great to see again; more than that, right now he reminds me of my little Monchichi with his few days beard growth and longer side-burns. I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just what comes to mind.
- The Jazz crowd was typical, when the team starts to struggle; so does the crowd.
- The officiating was questionable quite often, against both teams.
- At least two different people on the t.v. broadcast mentioned the lack of scouting reports for Luis Scola. I can imagine the conversation from the people responsible for scouting: Guy number one-”Who is this Scola, and what is this internet that I keep hearing of?” Guy number two-”I don’t know but I just booked passage on the ocean steamer to Italy, for I’ve heard on the wireless (after the tubes warmed up) that he plays there. I should arrive in two months, perhaps while in Europe I’ll get to see the new wonder, the Eiffel Tower.” Guy number one-”I love the new wireless technology, why just the other day I heard a bully new song called “Yes, we have no bananas.” Guy number two-”If only there were a way to see this Scola, so that we would know how to play against him”….aaaand scene. NO SCOUTING REPORT? Are they serious? I managed to watch the Eurobasket tournament this summer, without leaving my chair! I don’t even get paid to do it. Anyway, my scouting report after watching the game is: he’s good-you’ll need to guard him, don’t let him shoot uncontested–you know since he’s good enough for the NBA and all. Also, we need to see more of him, playing or not, he’s easy on the eyes if you know what I mean. Ole!

Scola, being Argentinian, did not play in EuroBasket. I believe you are thinking of the Tournament of the Americas, in which he did play (and which was broadcast on ESPN2).
Haha don’t worry about this guy above me. Great blog! Very funny stuff.
Pudge, thank you for commenting. I wasn’t actually meaning to imply that Scola played in the Eurobasket, only that with the advances of technology in the world, it really is no excuse for anyone on an NBA team to say that they didn’t scout a guy. They could look him up on NBA.com, watch the Tournament of the Americas, even just type his name into Google. I was also saying that even I, having very little technological know-how, could watch the Eurobasket tournament, and if I could do it, an NBA team could get some kind of scouting report on an international player. Thanks for giving us the real info. on Luis Scola, I enjoyed watching him.
P.S. the conversation in that post was actually made-up.
