The 8 Opposing Players Jazz Fans Love to Hate

Why 8? Because I like Deron Williams’ game and my attention span starts to wane around 8 anyway.

The list’s parameters? Current players presented in true countdown style with 1 representing the individual receiving the greatest disdain from the Jazz Faithful.

Here it goes:

(8) Carlos Arroyo. He played games with Jazz hearts and then deftly dribbled them right off his foot. Of course, you can’t hate on him too much because if it would’ve worked out the Jazz might’ve drafted Martell Webster or Charlie Villanueva in 2005 instead of one, Deron Williams.

(7) Michael Redd. Until otherwise likeable Redd proves he respects the Jazz enough to keep it under 50 points, he’s on the list.

(6) Tim Duncan. Duncan is a winner. He’s also a similar sounding word, a whiner. Put the two together and he’s not going to win any popularity contests in Utah, until he decides to forego his newly signed contract extension and play here.

(5) Baron Davis. I could go on for a while about the Great Beard but I’ll just say that during last week’s game I saw him take his mouth guard out while at the free-throw line and that thing would make a Clydesdale’s horseshoe jealous.

(4) Manu Ginobili. McFakey has the innate ability to change the complexity of any game and has done so time and time again against the Jazz. Jazz fans don’t like that…the fakey, that is, and the associated losing.

(3) Robert Horry. I’m not sure how many Jazz-slaying shots Horry’s hit over the course of his career, it feels like 50, but the collective moan that rolls over the ESA crowd when he touches the ball at the end of a close game speaks volumes. He also looks a tad like Will Smith, the Fresh Prince years, which is unsupportable.

(2) Dick Bavetta. Yeah, yeah, he’s not a player, but it’s been close to a decade and Bavetta still hasn’t called Michael Jordan for pushing off.

(1) Kobe Bryant. Emotionally polarizing Kobe may be the least liked player in the whole of the NBA but here in Salt Lake City he’s particularly maligned. Maybe it’s his shady past, or maybe it’s his King Midas supply of arrogance. Or maybe it’s because Kobe seems to consistently make our Jazz appear foolish with last Sunday night as a case in point.

Kobe Bryant is the best player in the league. Jazz fans should show some respect to Kobe. Kobe has never did anything to the Jazz. just cause he made a mistake you look down on him and your either jealous or don’t respect great players. You gave Lebron James a standing ovation when he scored 50 on your team a few years back. i remember when Kobe had his streak of 13 games of 40 or more and Kobe drops 40 and you guys cheered him then. but why not now?

I thought this was a Jazz fan blog site. Kobe can score 81 points in a game because he doesn’t believe in his teammates. If he kicked them the ball a little more (like he has done some this season) maybe he could inspire some confidence. No one’s cheering when Kobe makes 40 points when his FG% is sitting at 33 or so and he still walks all over his teammates in the media. I respect great players that are respectable. LeBron seems like a respectable player, or Nash. Regardless your taking this list thing all too seriously. I don’t know who cheered LeBron for his fifty but it certainly wouldn’t have been me and I think he’s a great player and a great human being. Someone needs to keep these hot-headed Jazz-haters off these boards especially if they can’t have fun with it.

    To TA,
Kobe didn’t make a mistake, he committed a crime! A mistake is like turning right when you meant to turn left. A mistake is like selecting pickle relish when your wife asked you to pick up Baby Dills. Even if he didn’t rape that girl, he, at a minimum, cheated on his wife. He totally dis-respected someone that he was supposed to love. How do you think he really feels about fans that he doesn’t even know. His true colors have shown bright for quite some time now and basketball fans are responding. That’s why we cheered him then and not now. Also, Jazz fans are not the only fans who don’t like Kobe. His reputation is one of arrogance and obvious indulgance. I know Laker fans who would rather talk about anything other than Kobe because they can’t defend his reputation.

All, but mostly TA - What can I add that hasn’t been said by MW and Kevin? There’s not even a scintilla of a question as to who was #1 on this list. Kobe is obviously a talented player but he’s not a champion.
