On the road…in a van?

As the Jazz get ready to hit the road, I wondered how they fill their “extra” time waiting to play their opponents. Since I couldn’t ask the players, I asked my students instead. I thought that their ideas might be more entertaining than the truth. Here is what they came up with:

Abi- “Probably since they are on a time limit to arrive by a certain time in a certain place, they don’t get off the bus or van for a long period of time. I’m guessing that they would rest from game to game, and on the way across country- play card games and other games, but mostly- nobody knows.”

I think they will pre-sign basketballs and go to parties. (anonymous)

Ben - “I think that the Jazz players sleep until they are refreshed and then practice. The probably will need lot’s of sleep because they have a lot of games to play that are very long and hard. The players get really tired so they should rest and then they can practice.”

Hailey- “I think they practice every day and get along with other teammates and try to do their best on the court.”

Ryan- “I think that they go over their plans for the game, practice and party.”

FR- “They probably just hang out, party and practice. They have stuff to play with also.”

Maybe I should find out what the players do with their time between long road swings. We certainly wouldn’t want the students thinking the life of an NBA player was all fun and games; maybe it’s their definitions of games that I should wonder about?

One student wanted to express their ideas in a little different fashion…designated cheer leader for the class. JYN writes, “I think the Jazz are going to sweep the east. They’re going 15 for 15 back east. They are going to wipe them out (I used figurative language). The Jazz are going to be the top in the nation. They’re going to the finals! They’re going to be number ONE in the nation!!!”
