Rivalry Week
Any moderate football enthusiast in the state of Utah knows that this week is rivalry week. Go Utes! A Utah Man am I. Ya I will fight for dear old crimson. I really don’t care to talk to anyone who is a student, or shows support for the school down south. Normally I am reasonable, but this week I don’t even want to look at them. There is not a lot in common I share with people from the school down south (except for the blood I share with my cousins who unfortunately go there). So when it comes to uniting with “those people” on any subject, it happens very seldom.
However, last year during the play-offs I realized something. The Utah Jazz can make me hug, high-five, and embrace anyone. If you are next to me, and we watch D-Will drain a three, or Boozer slam it down, you are my new best friend. Even if you reside at the school down south, I will take you as my friend. It doesn’t matter what high school, college, or professional teams you support, as long as you also support the Jazz, consider me your ally.
Now, keep in mind this only occurs during Jazz games. Not prior, not after, but during. During Jazz games, I kind of let the heat of the moment get to me, and usually do some irrational things. So this week, you might be a feline, and I might be a Ute, but next week, we might both be Jazz fans.
