My Take: Jazz Stop Pistons

FINAL SCORE  — JAZZ 103 PISTONS 93
This is as impressive as I have seen the Jazz look this season.
They took advantage of no Rasheed.
The defense was terrific throughout the game.
The offense had the Pistons on the ropes throughout the game.
The big boys, Boozer and D-Will, were incredible.
Okur played a strong game without being able to make a shot all day.
The defense on Billiups and Hamilton was very strong.
GREAT WIN

2:58 4th Quarter — Jazz 95 Pistons 87
clutch tip in by AK on a D-Will missed 3
Offenses are taking over late
Boozer has 34 on 16 of 19 — you need to win when he has that day.   Think Rasheed being in a suit has been a factor?

5:54 4th Quarter — Jazz 87 Pistons 80
Jazz offense has gone south.  Just one field goal in the opening 5:30 minutes of the quarter
Deron is trying to take over the game and carry the Jazz to the win.
Deron is getting to the line today which is the next step in his progression.
High pick and roll has become the Jazz offense and the Pistons are focusing on Booz.
Pistons are beating the Jazz on the Jazz defensive glass.
Price got all of Gordan’s minutes

End of 3rd Quarter — Jazz 79 Pistons 69
This is very impressive by the Jazz.  The defense has been great.  They are taking advantage of no Rasheed Wallace.  Most of the shots by the Pistons are tough and ones you are willing to give up.
The defensive rotation is great.  The team is really playing the game as a unit on the defensive end.
Flip Saunders was ejected.
Okur is very good on the defensive end today — the best I have seen all year.
Boozer has 30 — He has been unreal.

5:20 3rd Quarter — Jazz 64 Pistons 60
I am impressed with how Okur is dealing with his shooting struggles.  He is still working.  He has had an impact defensively.
Boozer is 11 of 13 from the field.
Pistons haven’t run the high pick n roll at all this quarter — I am confused?

Haltime - Jazz 57 Pistons 50
I could watch these two teams play forever.  What a great game.  Mark down Feb 27 when these teams play at Energy Solutions.
Jazz were great to finish the half, scoring on 10 of 11 possessions.  D-Will and Booz are on fire.
Booz is 9 of 11 from the field  — 18 points.
D Will has 10 assists.
This is a great point guard battle.
AK’s defense is great.

5:50 2nd Quarter — Pistons 41 Jazz 37
Ronnie Price is getting Gordan GIricek’s minutes.
Price shows the ball too much when he drives in traffic.
Jazz are not taking advantage of Billiups being on the bench and the Pistons back-up Flip Murray is awful.
Okur is 0/8 today.  It is tough to watch. Rest of the team is 15 of 22.

End of 1st Quarter — Pistons 34 Jazz 30
Fantastic first quarter of basketball.
Pistons are usually a set team but today they are pounding the Jazz on the pick and roll and mainly from the top of the key.  The Jazz will have to make an adjustment on how they are guarding the high pick and roll.
Boozer two fouls
Jazz shot 12/20 and trail — that is a bad sign.  Jazz started 12 of 17
The defense of the last two games in not evident as the Pistons are 11/19 from the field.

7:51 1st Quarter — Jazz 13 Pistons 9
Fantastic start for the Jazz offensively.   4 of the first 6 buckets are lay-ups.
Pistons have gone zone and the Jazz are now shooting from the outside.
Rasheed Wallace is not playing in this game.
Pistons are isolating Billiups on the wing and forcing D-Will to guard him

Keys to the Game
1. EASY baskets on the road
2. Intensity.
3. Don’t let Chauncey beat you late.
