Joining the Family
Today we welcomed a new member to our family. I am actually receiving a Christmas gift early, I am getting a little male Sheltie (miniature collie).
Now the fun begins on seeing how well he is going to fit in with everyone, what type of personality he has and so forth. Not only do we have to see if he fits in but we have to work on getting him housebroke and staying in the yard.
Now, I’m not comparing a player with a new pet but it is somewhat of the same principal. When someone new joins the team you have to see where they fit. Do they get along with the rest of the team? Are they able to follow instructions when given? Do they have the personality to remain with the team? Are they able to perform?
These are all questions that are probably asked when a new player first joins the team. These are the same questions I asked myself when we received our puppy. The first thing we did was give our puppy a name and that name is “Boozer”. We next introduced him to the rest of the family and for the most part everyone feel in love with him except one. So now I have one (dog) acting out and mad because she feels like she is being replaced. The once trained pet is suddenly not obeying instructions that she once did. So what do we do? Do we trade “Boozer”?
No, we continue to work with both of the pets now and hope that they learn to get along or at least tolerate each other.
Being able to remain with the team takes alot of hard work. I feel for the “new guy” because he is stepping in to an established team an often times a “family”. He now has to work extra hard to find a place in that family in hopes of fitting in. He has to face the fans and find a place with them as well.
Now, even though “Boozer” isn’t up to our expectations yet I have no intentions of trading him for another as we have fallen in love with him and with work and patience he will fit in just fine.
