Rivalry Part 2??

Walking into the Energy Solutions Arena on Friday night I was a little surprised to see SOOO many Laker fans showing their colors! I knew that there were quite a few Laker fans but I didn’t expect 1/4th of the people at the game.

The game began, The Jazz were behind for the first minute or two, Laker fans were enjoying the scene, (at least the ones around me). The jabs, the comments, and the taunts. Within the next few minutes the game took a wonderful change for the Jazz! Kirilenko was playing like we all knew and hoped he would, Milsap, Brewer and the others were fantastic and then there was Williams putting on a clinic for Fisher it was FABULOUS!

Laker fans however, got frustrated and many Jazz fans reacted to them! In the seats around us, the scene turned ugly pitting man against man, woman against woman and then man against woman! Each sharing their opinion with an added finger in your face for emphasis! Where were the adults that had come to enjoy the game? Where were their scruples or their manners!!! Thanks to others around them, tempers settled before it got really bad.

There are many fans of the Lakers here in Salt Lake due in part to the growth of our cities from those that lived in our around California moving to the Greater Salt Lake area. They are an asset to our communities. They are our neighbors and friends…but when it comes to Basketball…the true colors come out!

No longer is it just Blue vs Red no, there is a new match-up for Rivalry week…The Jazz Blue vs. the Laker gold and purple!

I’m sure that was Laker puke yellow they were wearing and they are the most obnoxious, uninformed fans who visit the ESA. Unfortunately, there are times where they bring out the worst in our fans, but from my seat over the years, Jazz fan reactions are usually not unprovoked. Many of them are Jazz haters, more than Laker fans. It’s interesting to talk to them, which I do (I’m always curious). My unscientific survey shows most of them don’t have a remote geographical relationship to SoCal. They are Kobe fans and might have a vague idea who Odom is but beyond that, they’re clueless. Most of the fans from other teams actually follow and know what’s happening with their teams and exhibit more class and common sense than Lake fans.
    Jus’ my opinion.

Some people allow their true self to show through, no matter the color they wear!

Deep down, they are just……. another waste portal.

Always nice to see most folks are just that, folks that enjoy the game and hope their team comes out on top.
