What You Don’t See On TV
The Heat/Jazz game was great last night! Good to see Memo play well. The Jazz are playing great and I would anticipate this trend to continue.
As I was crowd watching, (a favorite pass-time of mine) I noticed quite a few things I realized those at home would never get to see. A couple of tidbits from “behind the scenes”:
Hall of fame mascot the Jazz Bear had some great material tonight. My personal favorites were the Bear smashing birthday cakes in the face of three lucky Jazz fans followed up by pulling random women off the front row to pinch the tush of NBA referee Ed Malloy. (For those wondering, Malloy seemed to be having a great time and I think we got some home cooking thanks to those women.)
Every time I go to the game I am amazed how much people love free stuff. Regardless of what team you are cheering for or what the item is, people go crazy. I found it amusing that even Miami fans were standing up trying to catch the Zion’s Bank True Blue t-shirts. I kept thinking what in the world is a Heat fan going to do with a Utah Jazz shirt?
Finally, I had to laugh at some very familiar antics of a familiar Jazz fan. Sitting behind the hoops for years and years has been the Jazz fan simply know as “The Doctor.” If you’ve ever been to a game you know exactly who I am talking about. I respect his dedication to being a fan. He is constantly trying to influence the outcome of the game, utilizing props to distract opposing free throw shooters. With about two minutes left in the game NBA referee Mark Wunderlich walked over to The Doctor and had a chat with him about his props. Wunderlich then turned and walked away to chat with the other two officials. The Doctor continued to mock and next thing you know Wunderlich sent a security guard over to confiscate The Doctor’s Jazz flag. A good laugh was had by all around including the security guard taking the flag. The Doctor then resorted to using the rubber chicken for the rest of the night.
Good times, good times.

Funny, funny, funny…seriously. Funny that a heat fan wanted to catch a Jazz shirt. I bet the Jazzers around the fan were staring for at least five minutes straight. Funny once again.
I personally like watching drunk fans trying to walk up the stairs and not spill their beer.
