The Amazing Andrei

Ross Siler, Tribune writer, used it the other day and I like it.

Like it, heck, I LOVE IT!

Andrei Kerilenko has a lot of knick names. When he first came to the Jazz, and was selecting a number, one of his teammates suggested 47. And AK-47 was born. He was from Russia and so was the AK-47 machine gun. He was quick and could bounce right back for a rebound, it was a great fit.

When he started filling the stat sheet, Mr. 5×5 and The Swiss Army Knife started being used. A little of this, a little of that. What do you need? Just pull out another blade, the corkscrew or the sissors. Slice an’ Dice, pop the cork, what do you want him to do?

I’ve watched all his triple doubles and 5×5s, but the Lakers game, was the best game The Amazing Andrei has ever played, from my point of view. It was AMAZING!

I can see it now…

(Announcer) Now…The Amazing Andrei! He bows at center court dressed in a full tux (with velcro seams), tails and a black top hat. Then after making $13 million disappear and pulling a couple of turkeys (they were suposed to be white doves) out of the hat, and sobbing that his trick didn’t go quite the way he wanted it to, he pulls out a basket ball, rips off the tux, and proceeds to do some amazing tricks. First he steals the basketball and gets an assist to himself at the 3 point line, and drains a 3. Then, he takes it out of bounds, throws himself a full court pass, goes for the slam dunk, but blocks himself, gets the offensive rebound and put back dunk on his own assist.

Amazing?

No, The Amazing Andrei!

I like to stay with AK-47! That is what he started with and if he is getting back to the old Andrei and getting better, lets keep the AK-47!!. Anyone know if Duncun is better?

I wasn’t suggesting a name change, just how he was like a magic act during the Laker game. You can’t take my comments literally ;-). It’s just for fun.

Andrei is amazing!

Even if he is not scoring, he comes from nowhere bats the ball and ends up at the other end for a dunk. Opposing players have got to add another several degrees to their head turn and spend time looking for him. Usually too late cuz iff dey be looking, the ball is headed the other way already!

Andre deserves all the attention we can give him. He as well earns his pay every night on the court.
