My Take: Win vs. Spurs Slips Away
TIM DUNCAN IS OUT
FINAL SCORE — SPURS 104 JAZZ 98
Manu was unreal. I have to wonder what he would be like if it were his team. In my rankings he is the best offensive player in the NBA.
Where did all the close looks go in the 4th quarter, no post-up for Williams in the 4th quarter.
Parker hit a really big shot with the score 94-93. It was a tough look the Jazz played great defense on the possession.
The back taps by Oberto were enormous.
The Spurs are really good and they know how to win.
2:50 4th Quarter — Spurs 91 Jazz 87
Jazz are playing like they are tired. They are losing the ball, they are a step slow defensively and they are lazy about putting their body on people on the boards.
Oberto has tipped out three offensive rebounds to give the Spurs three extra possessions and they have 7 points off those possessions.
Jazz who were getting lay-ups all game are now shooting all from the outside.
Shots in the Quarter are from: 12, 17,3, 24, 17, 3, 16, 2, 17, 16, 25, — Blue means good.
That is not what they did earlier in the game.
AK has been a non factor but their has also been no effort to involve him.
The Jazz are not posting Deron on Parker, not sure why
THE SPURS ARE VERY GOOD.
8:48 4th Quarter - Jazz 82 Spurs 81
The Spurs are tough. Jazz are helping on the drives by Manu and Tony and they answer with jumpers by Finley and Bonner. Spurs are 9 of 21 from three. Pick your poison.
Offensively, the Jazz have been great most of the night.
Deron is taking over with Carlos off the floor.
Is tonight they night they win in SA for the first time since 1999 - we aren’t going to know until the final possession.
End of 3rd Quarter — Jazz 76 Spurs 72
Carlos Boozer is playing very well offensively.
When the Jazz get the shot off it is going in. 6 turnovers in the quarter were the issue.
The turnovers often come on the passes that get the high percentage shots so maybe that is the reality of how they are going to play.
Jazz were tied when Hart came in so he held his own for the final 3:00 + of the quarter.
Parker doesn’t have a field goal since the first quarter but he is getting to the line.
To win the Jazz will have to find a way to slow down Manu. They are making him take a lot of shots for his points.
CJ MILES HAD THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR ON A SICK DRIVE AND DUNK.
2:45 3rd Quarter — Jazz 70 Spurs 68
Very good game. Super intensity.
Teams are battling.
Brewer is playing well off the ball on the offensive end to take advantage of Bowen free lancing.
Parker sat out most of the quarter with fouls.
Jacque Vaughan hit two jumpers which might be the same amount he hit in his Jazz career.
Halftime — Jazz 51 Spurs 50
Spurs put Bruce Bowen on Deron and it changed what the Jazz were able to do on the offensive end. Jazz went just 6 of 15 from the field in the quarter after Bowen went onto Deron.
Ronnie Brewer losses his focus on the defensive end and makes awful mistakes. It is an understanding of angels and what a veteran can do to a youngster.
5:56 2nd Quarter — Jazz 43 Spurs 37
The Spurs are fantastically put together. When you play the help you need to on their penetration they have deadly three point shooters on the outside nailing the 3.
CJ Miles played the 2 and hit 2 straight threes
The rebounding by the bench was awful — Milsap needs to dominate the glass.
End of 1st Quarter — Jazz 29 Spurs 21
Some of the best execution by the Jazz offense all season.
I have rarely seen a team slice through the Spurs like that. It might show the value of Duncan’s most underrated part of his game, defense. He is the best post-defender in the NBA and if he is in the game the Jazz can’t post up Parker in the same way.
ESPN went to Sloan in the Locker-room before the game and it was uneventful.
They also interviewed him between quarters. Amazing.
Jazz got 11 of their 14 field goals in the paint
2:30 1st Quarter — Jazz 29 Spurs 19
Deron is on fire 5 of 5 and killing Parker in the post.
Jazz hit 14 of 18 to start
6:41 1st Quarter - Jazz 15 Spurs 12
Jazz start 8 of 9.
Great move by Memo who is being guarded by Matt Bonner for a drive and a dunk.
Jazz are posting Williams on Parker and having success.
Jazz hit back to back pick and rolls.
Parker is killing the Jazz on the pick and drive. Jazz bigs are really slow and soft coming to help.
Keys to the Game
1. Keep Parker out of the paint
2. Shoot well the first time, no offensive rebounds available tonight
3. See if someone other than Parker or Manu will beat you

Without the flop ginobili is an average player. You can’t get within 10 ft of the wanker or he’ll dive right into you and the bloody refs give him the call almost every time. He and buttload of others are turning the NBA into the WCW.
