Cursed Microphones!

Is it because I watched the San Antonio game on non-cable KJZZ that I didn’t hear the microphone-sporting Jerry Sloan at the San Antonio game? Or is it because someone came to their senses regarding putting microphones on coaches in the NBA? I’ve worked in and around collegiate and professional athletics, and my father’s co-workers were in the construction trade when I was growing up. So you could assume that I’ve heard a few things that you might not generally use in genteel conversation. I don’t know the exact numbers, but there are a lot of young NBA fans out there. I see plenty of them when I go to the Jazz games. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t seem to me that the parents of those youngsters really want their little juniors to emulate everything their favorite coach does. Can you imagine trying to use the mute button every time one of the coaches says something you don’t want your three year old to repeat at Grandma’s house during Christmas dinner? Besides, I probably have enough choice phrases run through my mind while at work with a difficult customer, or in traffic, that hearing anymore of them might just push me over the ledge of discretion when it comes to letting those words escape my lips the next time I’m in polite company.

Perhaps the NBA has often received letters or emails from people who have had the burning desire to know just what is said on those sidelines, or just what goes on in those locker rooms? Instead of putting the cameras in and invading players’ and coaches’ privacy, the NBA could really cover the territory quite well by saying: showers. What goes on in the locker rooms for the most part is showers. When it comes down to it that’s what goes on in the locker rooms. The rest is just non-important, and truly not the ticket to winning over new fans. How about concentrating efforts on improving the All-Star weekend. Really, does anyone watch this event anymore?

No, I don’t watch it, I don’t believe in it, and I think it only makes players want to work for their own numbers and fame, and not concentrate as a team. None of our players who have gone have come back to play better. They either have gone into a slump or have gotten hurt. It costs a lot of money for NO GOOD reason.
