‘Merry Tomahawk’

A recent discussion in our class was centered around the chance we have at this time of year to give to others. We wondered what it would be like if we could be Santa for just a moment in our writing and give a gift to the Jazz, who would the gift go to, what would the gift be, and why would that be the gift we would want to give?

Here are a few of the answers the kids gave in response to the statement, If I were Santa I’d…

I’d give Carlos Boozer an arm massage because his arm probably hurts after practices and games.

Give Carlos Boozer a new basketball because he just might need an extra one…from Katelyn and Brooke

I’d give Deron Williams a new basketball court to practice on.

I’d give Deron Williams a new basketball with really good grip to practice with…by Nelson

I’d give D-Will a basketball signed by Micheal Jordan!! by Sammy

I’d give Deron Williams $500.00 extra because he is so good! by Landon

I would give a gift to all the secretaries. i would give them all Secretary hats because they are doing a really good job!! by Samuel

My gift would be to the coach, Jerry Sloan. I would give him a big “Thank you” because he does a lot of work. by Kate

I would give Andrei Kirilenko a new basketball to be able to practice more with it and because he really likes basketball and is good at it! by Ryan and Cooper

I would give my gift to the referees. I would give them some yummy cookies because they are probably really hungry after the games.

Derek Fisher is who I would give my gift to. I would give him a gift certificate to Wal-Mart because they have really cool stuff there! from Rebecca

and finally:

I would give the broadcasting men a new video camera because I think he needs a new one!

These are awesome gifts. Maybe some cookies for the refs would help not only cure their hunger (as your student suggests), but maybe it would help them call a better game and ligthten up on the fouls!
