FINAL SCORE - JAZZ 108 SUNS 86
Once the Jazz made their surge the Suns had no response.
Good win for the Jazz.
The real issue will now be if the Jazz take advantage of this break and turn it into a winning streak.
Much of this league is about confidence and the Jazz have now won 4 of 5 and could start believing in themselves and each other. That is what happened in Portland.
End of 3rd Quarter — Jazz 86 Suns 60
The inevitable has happened. The Suns played last night and are undermanned and the Jazz have worn them out.
Give the Jazz credit they played the game right in the 3rd Quarter and it paid off.
Ronnie Brewer is having a great game. He leads the Jazz with 21.
2:30 3rd Quarter — Jazz 79 Suns 60
Jazz are playing enough Defense to get the Suns to take the shots the Jazz want.
Without Nash, Marion and Hill their are options on the floor that you like as the defense.
Jazz have gotten a lot of easy offensive looks.
Halftime — Jazz 58 Suns 48
Memo has 12 points and 10 rebounds
Jazz shot just 9 of 26 in the 2nd quarter.
Suns are shooting just 39% - they are without Nash, Marion, and Hill.
Points in the Paint are the Jazz 34 to 16.
2:14 2nd Quarter — Jazz 52 Suns 46
Jazz are showing better patience and getting dunks out of it.
The crowd is loving this game. It is filled with highlight after highlight. Okur dunks, Miles alley opp, Brewer with a big finish.
Stoudamire has a very limited offensive game. He is great around the hoop and a fantastic dunker.
The Jazz are making very limited defensive effort
5:47 2nd Quarter — Jazz 39 Suns 34
Suns are in a zone and the Jazz don’t look right.
The Jazz are solely perimeter right now.
Suns are lacking weapons, which is obvious without Nash, Marion and Hill but it is striking how different it is when Diaw and Banks are trying to beat people.
The Jazz need to figure out the zone,
End of 1st Quarter — Jazz 35 Suns 28
Jazz score on their first 11 possessions of the game (thanks Ben Bagley)
Barbosa is unguardable. He just goes full steam and no one can catch him. Or he just dribbles by people. He had 16 in the 1st Quarter.
Ronnie Brewer played well. He is very good inside around the basket and he gets space against the Suns.
Kyle Korver is getting extended minutes.
Okur had a great post move for a dribble and dunk.
Jazz shot 60%.
Phoenix got a surprising 4 offensive rebounds.

Deelightful victory!
Even though the Suns were forced to play with three (excellent), members not available, I don’t think the outcome would have been much different.
Our boys are finally really learning the art and science of defense! And if you have watched any football the last three weeks, you know that it’s the defense that will bring upon a victory, no matter who you may be playing!
Harassment, tips, blocks, agitation and flat out prevention of driving to the hole. If another team can’t score, they for sure can’t win and there no race in the last 2 minutes either.
Keep a 10 point spread and the refs can’t decide the contest either. 20-40 point spread? Hey Billichek said it, it aint over till the whistle sounds, where the score is when it sounds it is. That is when the game is over.
Though the Jazz did not exactly destroy the zone, K being off his shot for now, they managed to get inside and continue to score in the paint. As well now and again make a long outside shot which is like a bomb strike to the zone! Our confidence is getting oh so much better and with Korver in there, others know that the switch can flip and quickly.
But such a strike can come from KK, AK, Deron, Memo, and the ever improving CJ as well. It even seems as though the touted power forward is discovering why the term power is connected with his position. Boozer is learning to go for it and get the calls! Carlos, that is a double win each time you do such. Just don’t stop! You have the unique ability to create many fouls, in the favor of the jazz. So keep hitting your free throws, and creating them for us as well.
WAY to go GUYS!!!!
“My take” from last nights game was our glaring hole at PG behind DWill. When Hart picked up his 4th foul in the 3rd Deron had to come back in and play in a blowout where our stars shouldn’t be risking injury. What happens if Hart or, god-forbid, Deron get injured? Ronnie Price? AK at point? We’re loaded at the 2 but we’ve neglected to backup Deron. I hear Damon Stoudamire’s unhappy in Memphis; if Memphis buys him out, we can afford to pay him a veteran’s minimum, yeah? Too bad we can’t go back in time and offer Dee Brown a small contract. Where is he now by the way?
