‘…and in the basket’

Today at my basketball game the conversation was varied and maybe a little odd to some, but quite normal in my view. We talked about shoveling 2 feet of snow for exercise, sick kids, having your innards fall out, the upcoming Jazz game, where did you get that sweater?, etc. etc.

One of the crazy facts of life is, that sometimes as you get older, your innards start to droop like the rest of you. I won’t disclose what started this topic, but it was enough to”help”us stop playing and start chatting–not for very long though; gotta keep that heart rate up!

I know, I know-you’re wondering how this relates to the Jazz. Don’t worry, I always come around to it! Anyway, I don’t know how many, if any former Jazz players have had their innards fall out-but I’m hoping that one or more of them will at the next game. I want the Jazz to play their guts out!!! I know they can do it, they’ve shown it in the past, in the Indiana game as a matter of fact. They did for the first half of the game before that (Portland). Matt Harpring does it in almost every game! (Maybe that’s what has been causing his mysterious stomach ailments lately-he’s done played his guts completely out)!

Carlos, Memo, and Deron–I especially want to see all of you drop some innards at the next game (eww that does not sound right). I want to see Ronnie, Paul, C.J. and Andrei give new meaning to the phrase, leaving it all out on the floor!!!!!

Of course there’s a lot of figurative speech in this piece, but even if someone literally played their guts out, the team is in the capable hands of Gary Briggs, the team’s Certified Athletic Trainer.

As for me and my basketball group, we’re okay with playing really hard, but we’re hoping that the sport is delaying the effects of gravity rather than increasing them! Like my Grandma always says: “It’s hell getting old” (I have to make sure everyone knows that she is quoting a relative, she would never say h-e-double toothpicks herself)!
