Yesterday was Day 1 of Jazz Season
Was yesterday really Day 1 of the Jazz season? Yes it was the 42nd game, but watching the team on the floor yesterday made me think it was Day 1. The Giricek fiasco is gone and his replacement Kyle Korver is in the flow of the team. The minute restriction has been lifted on Matt Harpring and he played 27 high quality minutes.
The Jazz can finally be the Jazz.
Hapring’s ability to play without restriction and a Sloan rotation adjustment altered everything.
At no time when the game mattered did the Jazz have two inexperienced players on the floor at the same time. More importantly, Jerry tweaked the rotation and Deron and Carlos were never on the bench at the same time. Therefore, the bench unit which was the key to all success last year now looks formidable, D-Will playing with veterans Korver, Harpring and Collins and an energy guy like Milsap. Brewer, another inexperienced player, is on the floor with D-Will, AK, Booz and Okur.
The rotations looked solid. The Jazz no longer looked the training ground for talent that they have for most of the season. And for the first time we saw the roster as it has been built and the rotations that maximize the talent.
Yesterday, felt like Day 1 of the Jazz season.
