Decision Time For The Jazz

Before we get this party started, let me just say I am in shock at what the Lakers were able to pull off the other day. Honestly, every team in the Western Conference should have the desire to stomp a mud hole in the Grizzlies. Memphis needs to be demoted to the D-League after pulling off such a bone headed move.
On a positive note, the Jazz stomped the most worthless pathetic franchise in the league.
Ok now to the real point of this article. The next few weeks are going to be really interesting for the Jazz as they have some tough decisions to make. With the combination of the ever approaching trade deadline and the much improved play of the team, do you make a move or do you stand pat?
A couple of things to consider:
Although the Jazz have been playing great as of late, I still see a few weaknesses with the team. Perimeter defense and shot blocking to name a few.
Ronnie Price has been playing very well in the time Jason Hart has been out hurt. In fact I would say that based on his play Price has earned the job. If Sloan does give the job to Price how will Hart react? He already mentioned in the Salt Lake Tribune that he is having some regrets about his decision to sign with the Jazz.
CJ Miles seems to be the odd man now that Korver is here. CJ is in a contract year and has shown enough promise that there must be teams interested in him and the Jazz could run the risk of losing him for nothing this off-season if a big offer comes his way. Do you trade him now while you are still in control of the situation? Brewer is solid, Korver is a great fit and Almond is scoring 50+ points in the D-League. (Happy Birthday Mo-be)
Do the Jazz really need their 1st round draft pick? The pick will be late in the 1st round, and the Jazz already have plenty of young talent to develop.
Kevin O’Connor has a great track record when it comes to trades. He has repeatedly stated that if the Jazz can improve the team he will make it happen. I think the Jazz have some assets to use and some decisions that still need to be made. It should be a very interesting month.
I’m glad such decisions are not mine to make.
But I do think that Price is providing more than Hart did. All around his play is a breath of fresh air. Seems to be able to keep the offense going rather than standing still waiting for Deron to get back from break.
Just an observation is all.
GO-JAZZ!!!
Game Day!
Jaron Collins and Jason Hart for a good defending center (maybe from Indiana)….
I think that RRR hit it on the nose! Hart does just wait around for D. Will do be done resting. And Collins for sure has to go - All he has to offer is getting an offensive foul called on the opposing team once or twice per game. I think that Hart also brings bad morale to the team. One thing that I can say is WELCOME Korver!!!
i think they should just keep their roster how it is right now. maybe trade jason hart if he loses his position to Ronnie Price. Korver is the bomb. ive been watching him in college when he played for creighton and his whole career in the NBA so far. remember K2=3
I agree that Korver ROCKS!! and that Collins needs to go. Collins does get very much playing time but when he does he still doesn’t do anything.
Ronnie price has definetly earned the backup position. I have yet to see Jason Hart do anything with the offense. He may be a good athlete, but he doesn’t really fit into the Jazz system. It just seems like he could do much better elsewhere.
Trade Collins? Are you kidding me? We wouldn’t be able to trade Collins. Our best shot at getting rid of him is to give him away for free-
Jason Hart should not be playing basketball either. His “leaning-in” shots are miserable and he shows not confidence.
I am shocked to see P-Mill not playing as well as he could. He needs a morale booster- He’s a good player.
But as far as trading? We need to donate Collins to anyone who will have him. Hart? Send him to the WNBA.
GO JAZZ!!!
collins should go now that they have fes, i think we need a new center that can give memo a restand play some good D . But iam fine with the roster now!!!!!!!!!!!
mg funk haha yea just send hart to wnba nice lol. Jazz better dominate agains nuggets tonight!!!
I have been reading some of the comments in regards to what the Jazz should do about the trading deadline. First off, I agree that we need to get rid of Collins. J Hart needs to be with another team so he has a chance to develope into the player he can be. I feel Ronnie Price has the potential to back up D will just fine. His game will only increase the more time he gets out on the floor. Korver is the man and is just what we needed to spread the floor and make Boozer a bigger threat than he already is. I think if we keep our options open, and kevin O’connor can make a deal that will help us defensively, then our team will be more of a threat than the Lakers.
I think the jazz need to get another big man or a shot blocker for sure because we have one of the best offenses in the league but our defense isn’t as good. But our defense has improved alot!
trade collins , hart and cj miles for some shot blocking big man . well i love c.j but i dont think he will be happy with the jazz because korver takes most of his playing time and also i think fesenko could be a great player if he is given more time he has blocked a few shots and grabbed a couple of rebounds in his play time for the jazz this season. i think he already did more then collins. i think the jazz should go for dalembert from philly since they already got a few players from the sixers, if not maybe someone from bobcats like wallace.
Maybe we can get rid of collins somehow and bring Fesenko up for good and let him develop because he is going to have a bright future. Memo is good at defense when he wants to be and is aggressive when he feels like it. We need another big man that is always agressive and plays tough D all day long.
I don’t think they should give up c.j. miles because he is a good player and although he hasn’t had a lot of playing time i think he is a very good basketball player and he should be able to play more minutes to play in the game besides just sitting on the bentch and i know how it feels to sit on the bentch for alot of games. I think Jerry Sloan should let the people that haven’t played alot of minutes should have playing time.
All I can say though is that the only people that should be considered for a trade are collins, hart, and CJ. If we trade anyone else it will mess us up big time enless we traded like Milsap for Dwight Howard or something haha except that wouldn’t happen and I like how our team is anyway.
i think that our team is great just how it is we are on a 9 game winning streak going on 10 welll i hope we better nuke the nuggets haha. we better give them a woopin and KORVER just keep shooting lights out and ANDREI just shoot like you have been and DERON should be a all-star right know with CARLOS i meen thoughs two just hook up together like STOCKTON to MALONE and DERON keep dunking like you did that was freaking nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t beleive Sloan put Hart back in after the way Price has been playing behind DW.
You can’t even compare Harts (WNBA) athletic ability to Ronnie Price. Price took Hart’s job in Sac last year, what can’t Sloan see.
If Hart has regrets, get him out of here, he does nothing!!!!! Ronnie is a huge spark off the bench and compare his stats to his minutes. If Jazz loose this streak, look at Harts time behind Darrin Williams. GET RID OF HART!!!!!!!
I think when the Jazz signed Hart it was a mistake. Hart is a jorneyman. He has played for what everybody and still can’t fit in in the NBA. The Jazz need a big man. I would have to agree on trading hart and if you need to send Collins in the deal then do it and probably send their 2nd round pick too since the 76ers will get this years 1st round pick, but then you would only have Price to backup D Will so then maybe the Jazz should sign the Flash’s starting point guard for the rest of the season. What do you think of that Jazz Fans
How about we traid Collins for a sack of potatoes? Same amount of talent but costs much less? Good idea huh?
I actually disagree with myself haha now that I think of it. We need to keep CJ he will develop more and he is a good shooter. If Korver got injured or something and we didnt have CJ we would have some trouble with some 3 point shooting. CJ is probably just better in the long term affect. We need to get rid of hart and let Almond develop in the NBA because he slays in the D League!
I hope that they decide to keep Brewer and Millsap, whatever they do. With Brewer’s defense in transition, and Millsap’s rebounding potential they have a lot of talent and skill. I do agree that Hart hasn’t really shown us anything yet, and Ronnie Price has been playing well, but another point guard who we can trust with the game is still needed (if D-Will is injured or fouled-out- who knows what can happen?). With the acquisitions recently made by the Lakers and Suns, another dominating center like Memo would be helpful (Millsap is great, but still treated like a rookie, and Collins can contribute but isn’t extremely valuable) as well. When the big guy Fesenko got to play some minutes earlier in the season, he had some great rebounds… maybe he has the potential to put some presence in the post. Hope they keep playing together- good to see D-Will playing clutch in the Nuggets game. GO JAZZ!
Trade Collins and Hart for a defensive center, don’t know who, but need someone with a bit of bulk to do defense, give Okur a break. Scoring is there already : say defense-defense-defense. Great bunch of players now, don’t do what Sacramento done with their championship contender team 5-6 years ago by trying to tweak a position with some trades and the end result was a substantionally weaker team. Most of those players traded are still playing, some as starters. Been a strong Jazz fan since the mid 80’s, maybe this is their year.
Collins sucks, and that is all there is to it. I have yet to speak with a Jazz fan who likes Hart. Hart shoots from the hip. Price is better in every category except looking dumb. As far as CJ is concerned, if we need a 3rd string guard, he is perfect, but that is about it. Boozer plays like a girl on the road and needs to start playing tough in the key and not settling for 15 foot shots. With DW. Memo, and KK in the game we don’t need him doing anything else but fighting hard for rebounds and playing tough down low. If he would be more physical and punish people for their cheap shots on other Jazz players we would be in business like we were with Karl Malone.
YA NEXT YEAR THE JAZZ NEED A REAL BACKUP POINT GUARD BUT RONNIE PRICE BEEN LOOKING GOOD THE LAST COUPLE OF GAMES BUT I THINK THE JAZZ NEED A REAL CENTER THAT IS REAL GOOD ABOUT REBOUNDING THEY DONT REALLY NEED A SCORING CENTER THEY SHOULD LEAVE THAT TO THE SHOOTERS ON THE TEAM jarron COLLINS HE BEEN PLAYIN FOR THE JAZZ FOR A WHILE AND HE HASNT BEEN BRINGING ANY THING TO THE JAZZ FOR ALL 6 YEARS WITH THE JAZZ
next year the jazz need to put morris almond for some playing time and c.j. miles there something wrong with him he frustarates when he shoots he needs to get into his rythym when he shoots or he will probaly never be starting sg ya but i think morris almond will be the next kobe. kobe shooting not kobe dunking but he cant have 53 points in a game then shoots real crapy the next game no wonder he in the d-league but hes getting there. NEXT YEAR THE JAZZ NEED TO DRAFT A CENTER THAT HAS SIMULARITES LIKE MARCUS CAMBY BECAUSE MARCUS CAMBY CAN BLOCK REBOUND ALL OF THAT.
LOOK AT THIS all the Jazz fans agree and this needs to happen. HART and COLLINS have got to go, (WNBA) bring FES up to back up MEMO and PRICE knows whats up with being the number 2, i like him all most as much as everyone liked Dee Brown. And with KORVER and his sniper rifle shot we just need something else to fill the gap. Trade for something, maybe C.J. does have to go… sometimes it needs to happen. But jazz are back in swing baby TAKE IT TO THE KINGS ON FRIDAY
I agreed with most of the comment. Lets give Collins for free or pay somone to take him. I will donate $20 so he can be gone. Price is the man for the job, I think Hart is ok but does not fit with the Utah Jazz. We can always get back Rafael Araujo, He plays good defense. I can not understand why we let Araujo to go for Collins. And Korver rocks
hello guys i told all jazz will start playing better next half of the season and they doing that.kyle korver is fantastic giving a lotes of help every night .when trade comes i think we will see another big man in jazz uniform they need back up center to play with tall people in western conference when playoffs comes another center is needed young rookie fesenks is still young so i would like to see what jazz will do they need 7′0 guy and maybe another veteran back up point guard bye all i love jazz their team basketball i love it no selfisnes they really mist derek fisher he was tough
well larry you are probably not a true jazz fan because you don’t even know how to spell one of the best players on our teams name.. it is DERON not derrin. jason hart is playing fine. Ronnie price definitely deserves to be on the floor but we need both of them come playoff time. what if one of them gets hurt? AK can play the point but thats not his specialty as much as is love him..
I’m stickin up for Collins. He don’t play much, but when he does, he plays pretty well..he is physical, and he makes the two or three shots he takes. He ain’t pretty….he is the Jazz’s garbage man. You may not like your garbage man much, or think he is important…but he takes care of the junk….or junk minutes. Collins ain’t a problem. We may get some value out of Okur though, and he is in a bit of a slump. AK is playin great…but that might also be a good one to trade at this time his value is up, and we all remember the many run ins and problems that we have had there. If AK were to go we need a defender…and someone that is like him. Miles can go- I don’t know why the Jazz kept him….other than he is not terribly expensive to keep around, and they drafted him as a high school guy..maybe they felt he ought to have more of a chance? We ought to try and develop Almond a little more.. All in all though we got a pretty good team. When they bring energy, and give it there all the Jazz are unstoppable. You all know what I am talking about. Sometimes the Jazz are lazy, and that is where we get in trouble. This team is tremendously talented though.. GO JAZZ.
What a great win over Denver!
I’ve heard Locke describe Collins as a servicable backup center, but in a game where the Jazz had foul problems in Millsap and Okur, I was surprised that Collins didn’t pick up some minutes and take some of those 3rd quarter fouls. Maybe Collins was still recovering from illness, but we could have really used a 3rd body to share some of those fouls tonight.
It was an interesting combination of players down the stretch with Millsap and Okur out… Jazz played Harpring, AK, K2, Boozer and DW. It fit Ok against Denver because they were playing small… but I wouldn’t expect to see that combination very often. I was also surprised that Sloan took out Harpring as the game was getting heated. I think that the Jazz lost some of their momentum as Denver came back late in the 3rd & 4th. It would have been nice to see Mello foul out sooner, and it seamed like things were headed in that direction.
I agree that Price is playing better than Hart. Price tries hard to execute the Sloan offense, and will take a confident shot with the shot clock running out. I think that Hart does a poor job executing the Sloan offense, It is pretty common to see him throwing up a poor shot when the shot clock runs out, and the ball movement with Hart at the point is painful.
I really like what Fez and Almond are doing in D league. I bet the Jazz keep Almond in the ‘D’, and might call Fez back up if they loose confidence in Collins. Fez has a little bit of that same ‘nasty’ that Harpring and even Haffa had.
I like the Brewer/ K2 rotation, and hope that Brewer can continue to improve his defense. K2 is showing himself to be clutch, and I am so happy that we didn’t pickup Peterson after the NO game.
WE NEED A BIG MAN. PRONTO!!!!!
GASOL IS WITH THE FAKERS -NOW THEY SOUND FOR REAL- AND THE DIESEL JUST LANDED IN PHOENIX… THAT JUST PUTS MORE DEPTH ON AN ALREADY BOTTOMLESS WEST
I just watched the Jazz at Denver tonight and couldn’t believe it when Jason Hart came in??? Ronnie Price without any question gives the Jazz a much better look with his quickness and speed, plus he’s a much better shooter than Hart! (Who isn’t). It seems like a no brainer to me, so I am completely stumped while he is still the back up?????? Give me Ronnie Price!!!
Quit picking on Collins. All you guys ever say is that we need a defensive center and you are wanting to trade our best defensive big guy. In case you haven’t noticed he often comes in and gets under the skin of the other teams big guy. As for his hard fouls, why not? It makes the other guy think twice before they drive in again. Sure he isn’t very good at offense, but we need defense. As for Fesenko, he fouls way to much to contribute to the Jazz at this time.
I agree with trading Hart. He disrupts the offense when he comes in and can’t shoot. CJ Miles is the bomb; but since we have so many other good players, I would guess he would have to go (regrettably).
Trade away Collins for anyone, or assign Collins to the D-league and bring Fesenko back on the team, he has shown he can do an awesome job and certainly has more talent than the loser Collins.
Well I agree that hart needs to be gone. I dont care how we do it we just need to get rid of him. I dont care for Collins but atleast when he comes in he attempts to play defense. Korver is an unbelievable pick up and I couldnt be happier. Deron is the man and is going to continue to get better. I love what CJ has to offer. But I think he is better off finding a new home. Because unless Harpring retires or we get rid of Brewer, Almond, or Korver he is to far down the list on this team. I think he could go to a team like the Sonics or something and be a great addition. I wish him the best. I like our roster how it is. But if we are going to make a move. It has to be some defensive help. We arent going to be able to get a guy like Dalembert or Wallace. Because they are both young players and there teams like what they do for them. But if we could make a move for a guy like David Lee or someone like that. Then that would be a good trade. He is a hustler like Adam Keefe was and would fit in nice. But that deal would be hard to workout.
The Jazz need to trade Hart, Collins, Miles, and one or two future draft picks for a center who can play defense and rebound, and a better back up point guard than Price or Hart. Price should definitely be playing over Hart, but I still think we need someone better to back up Deron. I think Miles is a great player with lots of talent, but we just don’t need him. We have more depth at the two guard than any other spot on the roster. Korver and Brewer are much better players, especially on the defensive end, and Morris Almond can easily step up if one of them gets injured. (Not to mention we can play Harpring and Kirilenko at the same time if we need more depth at the two spot.) Also, I personally think Almond will end up being a better fit for the Jazz in the long run. It just doesn’t make sense to keep Miles when we need a big man who can defend to compete in the playoffs. If we can get a good defensive big man and a little bit better back up point guard I think this could be our year. Otherwise, I think we may be one or two years away from the title. Either way, it is a great time to be a Jazz fan. (And has been for the past 20+ years)
talking about trade i think the following should be done
1.cj miles for klieza of the nuggets
2 collins for jamario moon of toronto raptor
yes it is true that we need another big men to match with tim duncan and shaquile in the post, I think we can activate fesenko, train him to do some defense i am optimistic that this guy can work like gregg ostertag some day.By the way where is greg? I think he can be of great help to teach this guy.Lastly we need some another option like our forward.I am afraid that boozer migth be injured klieza and jamario moon is a great forward option.
I keep seeing Collin and Hart names thrown around, problem is NOBODY wants them… If you want a big man to clog the paint be ready to trade Okur, Andre,Booz, or another big name, NBA teams don’t want Harpering or Collins or Hart, They want our young talent that has upside, or players that have already made a name for themselves…
First off I knew when i wrote on Denver’s fan site that the last time they beat us that it was a fluke and I was right. I think that Collins and Hart need to go, they don’t fit with the jazz and never will. I really think we can get a good big defensive presence from trading them. Price needs to start playing more to get the experience and confidence to start running the offense better. Also we need to keep C.J. Although he isn’t getting much playing time he’s still a great back-up starter when Andre’s out, and after his confidence builds back up he’ll really shine. Go jazz, 13+ winning streak. I’m feelin it!
Although I agree that we should stop picking on Collins because he’s definitely good to do his job, he’s just one of those players who has to go. Collins, Hart, and, unfortunately, CJ Miles are our trade bait. If Ronnie Price does an okay job as backup point-guard down the stretch then all we need is another defensive big man. I’d suggest going down to Indiana, they have too many there with Foster, Murphy, and backups considering they aren’t going anywhere. With the sudden influx of big men into contenders (Shaq and Gasol), the Jazz can’t have Memo playing them. He picks up a lot of fouls and we need him to last the game.
I think Jazz need to make a trade now especially since L.A. and the Suns made trades. Though I think the Suns made a mistake. I think if Jazz get a big guy with some talent and bring up Fesinko then Jazz would have a chance at taking the title. Or possible a better back up point guard but tell me where are the Jazz going to find a better back up point guard then what we have? I don’t think Heart fits well with the Jazz and I don’t think Collens is playing to his potential. I think Jazz could trade both of them plus the draft pick for someone that will complement our team and wants to win.
we need to get iguodala from the 76ers or camby from denver
I’m Jazz’s big fan in Seoul,Korea.
Go~ Jazz!!!
for Championship!!!
When it comes to fundamentals, Collins understands the game. He plays sound defense, takes the charge, has a solid shot from short range and makes free throws. What he lacks is the Matt Harpring “I’ll rip your head off and spit down your neck” attitude. When is the last time you have seen Collins dunk? If he would develop a little nastiness, throw down some dunks and get in people’s faces he would be well worth keeping. You’re a big guy, Collins. Body up to Artest this week and kick his trash. As for Hart, the guy has some talent but his “heart” isn’t in it. Anyone who is willing to talk about regrets from leaving his old team (see S.L. Trib) needs to be sent packing. You are here. Grow up and play like a man. My advice would be to trade him soon. As for Aaron’s comment about Collins not being the problem and the need to trade an Okur or AK, get a clue, man. What planet do you live on? Okur has finally started playing inside out and his game rocks. AK is happy and a HUGE part of our recent success. Let’s keep it that way.
I would lilke to see the Jazz team keep the team they have for now and try to turn them into a solid team. They have a great amount of talent with a very good bench that can play from the bench or start if needed.
Seems like the last few years they keep trading, drafting etc. I think they have some solid players, let them play together for a couple of seasons and grow into the championship team Utah has been waiting for.
Last night as I watched the Nuggets they came very close to losing and it seemed to me it was because they let the Nuggets get under their skin by cheap shots taken at players and this ticked off the Jazz so instead of playing steady ball they began to play let’s get even with the rough stuff. If they would have stayed focused they would have blown them out instead of winning in an unnecessary overtime.
Great team
Great to watch
I’m hoping for a new head coach!!!!!!!! Hi Linda M.
Ernest Monson
eemonson@yahoo.com
I’m glad the rest of you have enough basketball knowledge to see my point of Price vs Hart. We will be very strong on point with development of Almond and the rest of the team we have. And you don’t want someone here that isn’t 110% here. His weak top of the key pointing nowhere, creating nothing, bad shot. (-20% during an 8 game streak) needs to go. A spark off the bench is what is needed during the game when players can become soft. Another aggressive big man is needed more than ever with the recent moves in the west and can be accomplished with a trade with the few mid-level players and a pick. Aggressive hard play is needed all four quarters when teams come in thinking the Jazz are soft. (a Malone elbow from someone at times would be great!)
Tanks Jourdin for the gramour lessonn on Darrinounious Williams. I will appoligize to D next time I see him, I was in the middle of the game. As for a Jazz fan, I’ve watched them faithfully since a kid, when they had to play in Vegas after coming from NO, never missed a season. Were you born and are you just on the band wagon for a minute again.
GET RID OF HART!!!!!
Well I think that this trade would help the Jazz out in trying to win the Championship. OK Trade Collins and Miles for Clevlands star Drew Gooden then move him to Center, and switch off memo, and gooden everyother night. The other trade I think the jazz should do is trade Hart, and Price for Orlando’s Back up point guard Jameer Nelson. If the Jazz do that they will have someone that can shoot outside, like korver.
we need to get rid of collions and hart and cj miles……….
If we do this it open more playing time for kover and ronnie price and lets are two rookies that are rippen it up in D leage to play and produce….
I think hart needs to go, The Jazz have enough talent at the guard positions. i think the jazz need to make room on the roster for fesenko and almond, collins has the experience over fesenko but i think fesenko will improve by leaps and bounds. so collins needs to go eventually. starters williams backed by price/miles, brewer backed by korver/almond Ak by harpring/brewer, boozer:milsap Okur:fesenko pending collins situation next year.
i think that the jazz should trade hart and the 1st round draft pick for a good back up center
The Jazz really need to make a move for a center whose presence is felt inside on defense and grab a few offensive and defensive rebounds. Every other position has a strong backup. If they don’t make a move for a center, call up Fesenko!!
Price earned a spot behind Williams, yet he did not play against denver thanks to Hart’s comeback. I’m sure you all were as excited as i was… not. I say trade Hart.
Trade Hart and Collins for PG Luke Ridnour, and for Center get Hafa Araujo back to the Jazz.
i dont know how jarron collins has made as far as he has, i wish i could play for the jazz, do absolutely notyhing and get paid for it, put him on waivers and bring up forsenko, just getting up off the bench he does more than jarron collins
what you think abou thtis guys? the jazz give away collins, hart, and miles for the indiana pacers center foster. he is a rebounding machine. they also get a good acquisition out of this. with shooting form miles and defense from collins. and hart can just be the third ponit guard that he deserves. i cant believe he wanted to play for the jazz. and i cant believe that jazz signed him. earl boykins was not employeed why didnt we get him…..hey guys just listen up……i heard that the jazz are trying to get DEE BROWN back from turkey…. that would be even better. maybe hart should go play over there. DEE was the bomb man. i love the jazz. and i see them in the finals against the Pistons. game 7 jazz win in overtime. HELL YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!
HeyHey
swap hart and collins to the bulls for duhon and gray. that would bring in two guys that would work really well with the system and it is good on the money too.
I agree with Lu. Get Araujo back
Why don’t the Jazz invest in a real center and climb out of their “Collins/Ostertag” ho-hum pretenders? Trade Collins, Hart and the 1st round pick, bring up Fesenko and get either an experienced, talented center to help Fes.
I think Collins is a wasted roster spot. His stats go down every year. He came out of College hitting 15 foot jumper and hitting 80% of his FTs. Now he has a hard time hitting a lay up and is 60% Fts.
I’ve compiled a list of centers around the league that the Jazz could have a shot at. If the Jazz were unable to trade for these centers, most of them could be picked up during the off season since most are free agents.
Please remember that I’m not saying that these are franchise players, just that they’re better than Collins.
Scot Pollard – Boston (Just better than Collins)
DeSagana Diop – Dallas (Shot Blocker)
Dikembe Mutombo – Houston (Age is a concern)
Jermaine O’Neal - Indiana (Off court problems, $$)
Aaron Williams – Clippers (Better than Collins)
Chris Mihm – Lakers (With Gasol and Bynum, might not have enough time for him)
Kwame Brown – Memphis (Athletic, shot blocker)
Jake Voskuhl – Milwaukee (Active, better than Collins)
Michael Doleac – Minnesota (some offense, better than Collins)
Theo Ratliff – Minnesota (Shot blocker, probably not looking for tons of minutes)
Jamaal Magloire – New Jersey (IF Kidd goes why say in NJ)
Adonal Foyle – Orlando (Shot blocker)
Calvin Booth – Philadelphia (Could be a good addition to the Jazz)
Brian Skinner – Phoenix (Shaq is in town)
Raef LaFrentz – Portland (Portland is having a great season and probably is content to stay where they are)
Robert Swift – Seattle (Shot blocker, better than Collins)
Rasho Nesterovic – Toronto (Good addition to Jazz)
I tend to agree with the general consensus of Jazz fans, that Jason Hart does not fit in well nor does he contribute much to the Jazz. I think that C.J. Miles will sign with a different team next season in an attempt to get more playing time. I would like to see the Jazz get rid of Collins and get a quality player by possibly offering Miles, Hart and draft pick. If nothing else just delete Collins from the roster. Rafael Araujo would have been better than Collins.
ok yall let’s mix it up a little…Boozer’s been acting like the Boozer of Cleveland - his numbers are down in almost every category for weeks if not months. The guy reminds me of Malone his last 3 years w/ Jazz - disappearing act! And Boozer was not a leader in Cleveland, King James aside. We could get tons for him NOW…he’s a friggin All Star - send him & Almond to Clipps for Brand & Maggette. Crap we had an offer for Maggette a few years ago anyway. D-will’s gonna make any talented forward star. And please don’t respond about what a great Jazz fan you are & how great Malone was & all that…he was a great player, ok? It’s just that when the chips were on the line, the guy disappeared in the 4th “faithfully” - Stockton (just like D-will) coulda made anyone great! Boozer’s performance of late looks too much like the late Jazz Malone & I repeat, we could get TONS for him? DatzallI’msayin…
If we could trade Collins for a shot blocking, rebounding big man to back up Okur, I think it would be valuable. I’m not a Hart fan, but I think it is very important for us to keep 3 guards because of foul trouble and injury, especially for the playoffs. Even though AK played point for us a little against Houston, I don’t think we could win a series with a line up like that.
I don’t really think the Jazz are looking to get rid of Miles. He has shown great promise for as young as he is. Besides, with Matt getting older and weaker the Jazz might plan to have him play a lot more SF to replace him in the coming years. Trading him might be more difficult than you think because it is in his contract that he has to agree to the trade. He likes it here and likes being on a winning team. He has shown a lot of maturity.
Frankly, I don’t see us making a big move before the deadline unless we could maintain 3 pg’s on the roster and get a good backup big man.
Hart has no hustle or defense. Price gives it 110% every time he is on the court…and on ball sides of the ball. Price gives us a spark everytime he steps on the floor.
Cmon Sloan….. Hart is in Ronnies rear view mirror!
Trading means improving we hope that this will be the result.I think jazz is the most balance team in this season. It is hard to defend a balance team, what we really need is to improve our defense especially at the post. We must focus to this problem if we want to get a title.
Go jazz, see you in the finals
In reference to Blow, Malone had the highest field goal percentage of anyone in the last two minutes of a game during the time that he played, know your facts, Malone got it done, just came up a bit short and up against the best ever, Jordan. Malone and Stockton rock…out
EVERYONE LOOK AT Eric S’s POST, He is exactly right! Boozer plays like a pansy! Look at every other power forward in the league. The PF position is not meant to be played like a point guard (-the bringing ball up) yet Boozer plays it like that, He needs to get in there make the other guys pick up fowls, and get rebounds! He could be averaging like 30 pts. 20 reb. a game if he would do that! I agree we need to get rid of Jason Hart, and for future reference from the very start i thought it was stupid having Hart run PG, I always thought it was meant for Price. I’m a little skeptical on Collins, because he has been here so long and i like the guy but if the trade will make us better DO IT! (not that we haven’t been doing good lately.) I wish C.J. could get some more playing time, up until Korver came (who i love) He was doing great! He was shooting well, playing OK D, and he was hustling. Kerilinko is really starting to pick it up! Hornaceks’s training has sure helped his shot, and he now is probably our second or third best player. (Contenders: Deron, who is 1st by a ways, Okur) If we keep playing like a team we will be way beyond the Lakers and even the Celtics. ( I think…) We have all the pieces, A Stockton, a Hornacek, and possibly a Malone (As long as Boozer can pick it up.) Now we just need to combine them and we have a championship! I was surprized with the Athleticism Brewer (who i hope is Ok) brought to this team this year. I really love the interview with LeBron James where he was talking about Detroit and Boston being big trash talk teams. They then asked him who the least trash talking arrogant teams were, and he replied. “Utah, they don’t trash talk, they just come in and Kick your Butt. Anyway, my fingers are getting tired, and so are my eyes, not to mention I have a basketball practice in about 30 mins so i’m gonna leave it at this. Good Luck Jazz, and we can win a championship! (As long as Boozer will stop being a pansy…=))
im sorry blow blow but you cannot trade boozer no matter what that is way to risky. Boozer is going to pull out of this slump soon. He isnt even in that big of a slump anyway. There is way to much chemistry in the jazz to trade him now. The Jazz have won 10 in a row! everything is working out we cant get rid of boozer he fits perfectly on our team. deron to booze is like the stockton to malone they are just carrying on there heritage.
What about Emeka Okafor who plays for the Charlotte Bobcats. He’s averaging 13 pts. 10 reb. 1.7blks he’s tough too so he could bang with shaq. And he’s defensive minded. They have a freeking point guard starting at shooting guard for them. How many do we have a again? (Rhetorical) And I think he’s a free agent at the end of the year. Make it happen O’Connor
I think the Jazz need to trade Hart and Miles for a solid back up point guard. Maybe even throw in Collins. The Jazz would be so much better. Make a move.
Go Jazz!!!!
I think what the jazz have right now is working for them. We have great depth with miles, (keep the kid, he’s so versatile), hart has potential, he just doesn’t look that confident on the floor, so my only real concern is collins. He could try way harder than he does, and the jazz may wanna look into the fast approaching trade deadline and try and come up with another okur-or-millsap-like defense. Keep big Fes in the d league for just a little longer, but that kid has a great future. go jazz, whoop the kings tomorrow night, pull this win streak all the way through the all star break!
GO JAZZ!!!
I can’t believe that Hart was just ‘thrown’ back into the starting position after Price’s performances these past few games. Price tries to penetrate and ‘feel’ the defense before he passes the ball to see what the defense is doing. Hart brings the ball down and passes the ball to somebody on the wing as soon as he passes half-court!
and by the way, why is Fesenko still playing for the D-league. Collins is barely used anymore. We may very well have an incredible shot blocker/defender waiting to show his stuff. And the stuff we’ve seen has been impressive to say the least. The guy has hands, court-awareness and excellent low-presence.
mildog - “In reference to Blow, Malone had the highest field goal percentage of anyone in the last two minutes of a game during the time that he played, know your facts, Malone got it done,”…
know your facts jazz fan…your statement may be true for most of Malone’s regular season life (dude was superman…) but it don’t bear out in the his last 2-3 years in utah nor in the finals against chi WHEN IT COUNTED!!!
the point is, as the team is surging right now Boozer is slumping & has been for weeks - that ain’t leadership & it’s his consistant lack of leadership that’s troubling (Cleveland included…).
datzallI’msayin…
We need to trade Collins thats for sure…Hart is an OK player but he does not fit with our team. I would like to see Ronnie Price get the back-up job and bring up almond (have you seen this guy play yet??) and give him so time with the jazz! Maybe Cato would come to the jazz for collins. I do feel our starting 5 is awesome, i would like to see kyle in there but i understand why he is not, we need the spark from the bench. The team can play D when they want i just wish they would turn it on all the time!!! GO JAZZ our time is so close!!!!
Personally, I like the Okafor and Ratliff trade ideas. But Ratliff needs to come back from his injury. Another high reb/block guy that might work is Kaman.
But the question comes down to what could the Jazz send them that they would feel is making them better? Collins and Hart probably aren’t giving anyone in the league warm fuzzies so we would have to give up some young talent (ie. someone like Miles or Almond or Brewer or Millsap), which would kinda suck.
Also, if you are wondering if a trade would work (financially at least) ESPN has a trade machine that you can test on. I couldn’t find a way to trade Kaman to the Jazz, but Collins and Hart for Foster (Indiana) was dead on……
OK, here is the trade (it even works on salaries):
Collins, Hart, Brewer to Charlotte for Okafor, Mcinnis. That gives the jazz the center they need and opens up a spot for CJ Miles to start at SG. It also maintains for them a 3rd PG. IT gives the Bobcats a starting SG, and the other 2.
Waddayathink? Can we talk the ‘cats into it?
Hi there fellow jazzbots.
As a British Jazz fan i would like to congratulate them on there recent winning run.
I am interested to know how the draft system works. If I am right the trade system is similar to the transfer system they use in soccer over here, but they don’t have a draft system so I am stumped. I will be watching this page with interest to see if anyone will be kind enough to let me know how the system works. Thanks for your help.

First of all shaq will not help the suns, next gasol did nothing for memphis and lakers wont improve with him.I agree that price needs to back up deron, and fasenko needs to back up okur. And last of all sloan is a winner,he just has problems with attitudes.
Miksoplik - I believe that the Jazz would trade Collins, Hart and Miles before they’d trade Brewer with Collins and Hart. Miles is long, but not near the defender that Brewer is. With Korver shooting well and Almond in the background, Miles will go before Brewer.
Tom H - My opinion on Shaq is that he will help the Suns IF he’s healthy come playoff time. I’d be willing to bet that Shaq will be more motivated to play for a winning team and according to his interview with ESPN, he’ll be back from injury a lot sooner than expected (however, talk is cheap).
I totally disagree that Gasol won’t help lakers. If Gasol did nothing for Memphis, then the Lakers wouldn’t have traded for him. IF Bynum (mispelled?) comes back healthy and plays like he has been, LOOK OUT FOR THE LAKERS (I hate the LAKERS). Kobe’s still the best scorer in the league and with two bigs down low that can score AND play D, wow!
I agree with all Jazz fans that Hart and Collins MUST go. Price is good enough now as a backup, my only concern is the playoffs. He’s quick, but a little under-sized. I agree that Almond and Fesenko should be brought up and that HART, COLLINS, and C.J. or Morris should be packaged for a shot blocking center. Foster in Indy is a good rebounder, but he does NOT block shots. You also have to look at the teams giving up something to the Jazz. If you Coached/Managed the other team, WHY would you want Hart or Collins? CJ is obviously what other teams would be interested in, however, I DON’T think many teams believe he’s proven. Collins MUST go! I’ve been saying that for years, but I obviously don’t get paid to make those decisions. You can’t tell me that FES couldn’t do more than COLLINS (no matter how lost FES can be). Fes is bigger, quicker, longer,
more agressive, athletic, younger, etc. Collins ONLY has more experience and system knowledge.
I would like to hear what comments other Jazz fans have on my opinion. Remeber, it’s just my opinion.
Get off Collins back. Jazz need Collins or someone like him and where do you find that person. Sit on the bench night after night, then get called on, usually to play somebody like Shaq or Duncan. His position is a difficult one to fill and being as the Jazz have him they need to keep him and I think Sloan and the Jazz are very aware of it.
Why did the Jazz let the Lakers steal Gasol? Shaq to Phoenix is funny. Phoenix apparently think he can get them the ring. Time will tell.
I’m a Korvar fan but Gerick would have done the same job if given the opportunity.
Trade Price or Hart for Dickau. Improves the locker room and the backup at the point.
Problem with trades to improve an area like shot blocking/defense is only five can be on floor at a time. Who would you put on the bench?
This team can win as is as long as Williams and Boozer don’t hog the ball and Sloan uses the bench.
Lisen to what O’Connor is saying, we have a couple of things other teams want, 1st round pick, CJ Miles. We can throw in Collins and Hart if they sweeten the deal, but what we need is a defensive big.
No way we should trade Brewer. He has vastly improved since his rookie year and will only get better. I envision him as a Michael Cooper type if he really sets his mind to it — and he’s already a much better finisher than Cooper, but Coop could shoot the 3 better.
Giricek could NOT have done what Korver’s doing, and he had ample opportunity to show it but never did consistently. Korver’s the bomb. I’ve wanted him on our team for years and never believed we could really get him.
Fes is a great prospect, but it’s unreasonable to expect him to come in and seriously compete w/ Shaq and Duncan, et al, at this stage of his development. He’ll be way more than serviceable (and much better than Collins) in a year or two. As for Collins, he’s been a great role-player and good citizen, but I agree that if you can throw him in a trade you should do it.
I agree on the Hart/Price commentary. Price is exciting and while I don’t always think he makes the right decision at the end of the quarter, I think Hart almost always makes the WRONG decision or no decision. He makes me nervous when he has the ball with 10 seconds to go…. here comes the wild 25-footer as the clock expires…
Booz needs to step up and be the tough guy those muscles suggest he can be. I think if Booz developed a little nasty and with AK’s improved play, we might be ok in the interior defense area. A real shot blocking center would be nice though.
My ranking of Jazz players (value to the team) is as follows:
D Will
Booz
AK
Okur
Korver
Millsap
Brewer
Harpring
CJ
Price
Almond
Fes
Collins
Hart
That being said, I would be willing to part with CJ if the return was worth it. I don’t think we should be too eager to get rid of Fes or Almond at this point — they have a lot of upside and could fit in well in the future here. I like Collins as a person, but he has substantial limitations as a player. Hart’s gotta go.
Go Ags!
I’m a huge fan of Kirilenko…however, I think we should try to trade him for Odom of the Lakers…improves both teams and clears cap room for the Williams contract.
No question Ronnie Price can do anything Hart can do better, he is quicker, better shot, matches up better on some of the smaller quick guards, and can jump. The Jazz did not loose while Hart was out for 8 or so games, and were probably better off. What ever the Jazz do it should include Hart, and it would be nice to have more height, taller timber inside. The Jazz have a hard time matching up against some teams that are bigger than they are inside, and we get out rebounded. Collins and Hart for some one bigger, srtonger etc
The Trade for Korver was brilliant!. Clay
I agree with most other comments and do believe somehow the Jazz should use Fasenko as their center and let Okur work as a Forward/Center. Almond I believe has proven himself in th D league along with Fasenko. Almond should replace CJ and should be brought up in the main roster . A need for a shot blocker in addition to AK’s ability to block should stablize our defense in the middle and let our outside shooters and great guards do what they are doing now.
Go Jazz
