The students in our fourth grade class decided to write about their favorite shots taken in a basketball game. The overwhelming response was the buzzer beater!! There is a lot to be said for the rush that one feels as the seconds are ticking away and the score is tied! Time seems to stand still as the ball is thrown into the air, it arches over the out stretched fingertips of the opposing player, up,up seemingly floating throuhg the air. Fans are holding their breaths, as they watch the ball and then the unmistakable glow of the red light signaling the end of the game. Then as if by magic, time fast forwards, the ball swishes through the hoop, the crowd erupts and the game is won!!

The second favorite shot that most of the students named as one of their favorites was the slam dunk, (some referred to it at the “Hammer” dunk) This was the one shot that those that play basketball felt that they could learn to master. One student wrote that there is nothing quite as nice as one of the Jazz players making an attitude statement by dunking with A LOT of power over one of the defenders!

The last of the top three choices for favorite shots to watch was the three pointer. One student pointed out that the Jazz have never been know for their three point shooting ability. He went on to state that now that the Jazz have Memo the Money Man and Kyle Korver that WILL all change!!

No matter what the shot or the statement that is made by making the shot, I say the shot that goes in is my favorite shot!!!
