Field Trip — Jazz Style
Last Saturday, my 6th grade writers got to visit the Zion’s Bank Basketball Center, not just a field trip, this was a trip to remember. It’s not quite Disneyland, but the eight foot doors that lead into the executive offices can make you feel like a dwarf. As if the students weren’t in enough awe over all the cool rooms, they got to shoot a few hoops from the practice floor. Can you imagine what it feels like to watch the ball swish through—nothing but net— when you’re eleven years old and on the same floor your idols practice on? You are actually breathing the same air as the team. Not much is better in the realm of the kid world, unless maybe you get an autograph or two. But, alas, the team was out of town winning!
Here is Forest’s take on the experience: “They have the sweetest lounge ever. They have a soda machine, a big T.V., and the most comfy couch ever. The court is the coolest thing ever.”
I guess you could say that he was just a little excited. Like I said, it was a trip to remember.
