I Could Even Dunk the Ball!

Before we went on our field trip to the Energy Solutions Arena last week, we talked about how big everything would probably seem to us.  We were going to be able to sit in the big seats that the players sit on during the games, we would walk the long and large halls and into the tunnels.  Best of all we were going to see the full-size court that the pros use and actually stand at center court!  Our expectations were high!

What’s this?? Did the court shrink, or did we get bigger??!!  We knew that we had not grown it must be that the court was a lot smaller than we expected it to be!  On television and even sitting in the seats in the upper bowl the court seemed big.  It had to be for ten tall strong basketball players to play a game on it.  But as we walked down to floor level, sat on the players chairs, and took off our shoes (we didn’t want to scratch the floor with our street shoes), we were amazed at how much smaller the court seemed!  The baskets even looked like we could dunk the ball!  Many of us ran the court five and six times while others dreamed of shooting that last second shot from mid court to win the game!  Some of the girls worked on their dance moves and cartwheels up and down the court.

What a fun trip!  We enjoyed imagining our dreams as we played on the court.   We even learned a little about the difference between the way things appear and the way they actually are!  Thanks for letting us come and visit the arena!

I enjoyed this fieldtrip. This one was fun because we got to go on the court.
I was racing other people. It would of been cool if a Jazz player was there.
