My family all watched the last two Jazz games this weekend (Phoenix and Denver). During those two games . . . can I just say . . . we were about as proud to be Jazz fans as we have been in a long time. We had a lot of fun watching the awesome play of the team, as they worked TOGETHER, to overcome some mistakes and steal both games.
If any of you have read previous blogs from my girls, you will know that a lot of their “Jazz” talk centers around who is “hottest”. Brooke, my oldest, is a Deron Williams fan all the way. Mallory, my middle, is a Boozer fan, usually, till Brewer does something heroic. Kara, the youngest, has had a hard time making up her mind between Korver and Boozer. Oscillating back and forth regularly.
Well, during these last two games, we had an all out “love fest” of sorts, as each daughter’s loyalties seemed to waiver in favor of whoever had the most recent awesome play. Kara, was the worst. It was Korver, then Boozer, then Brewer, then Boozer, then Okur. It was dizzying.
Now you need to know that I have explained to my girls MANY times that these players are old enough to be their father. And, in spite of what it sounds like, my girls are not boy crazy for any other (more reachable) boys. Just to set the record straight about my parenting skills and/or lack of them.
As the games went on I realized, it is very hard to stick with just one player when so many of them are doing such amazingly awesome things! I love to see the selfless play–which is probably why I was such a Stockton fan. There is nothing better to me than seeing someone pass up a good shot to give someone else a slightly better one. Another favorite of mine is the way Harpring comes off the bench to provide steady, talented, smart play game after game as if he is incapable of inconsistency.
The way the Jazz have played recently reminds me that, it takes more than a team of five to make it to the playoffs and be successful. I love to see each player take it to the next level. I find myself switching off who my favorite player is also. And, when I happen to get upset at someone, my husband will remind me of the past three awesome plays that I had conveniently forgot. For example, I might say something like “why did he take that stupid shot?” and my husband will reply “he’s only made 14 points tonight, he should be allowed to miss once in awhile”.
I am just so dang proud to be a JAZZ fan! The mighty Jazz can overcome and are just revving up! All of these gooey, mushy, fan comments lead me to my actual point of this blog (you knew I had one right?). . . The Jazz are HOT, all of them, WHITE HOT. I mean in play of course (usually) even though my girls might mean physically. The Jazz are on fire and, with the playoffs just around the corner, the best is yet to come!
