Commonalities?
My 6th graders and the Jazz have more in common than you might think. For one thing, March Madness applies to school as well as basketball. I am administering so many assessments this month that I have little time to teach. It seems that if I haven’t done my part (instruction, correction, redirection, clarification and organization) by February that it is too late. Either my class ‘gets it’ by then or they don’t. Take another example; the students decide how they are going to do on a test or assignment before they actually walk in to the test or complete the assignment. It is very easy for me to tell when my students gave it their best effort, blew it off as unimportant, or were having a bad day due to circumstances beyond their limited control. When I observe inconsistencies in my kids, I know that there are factors acting on them that I may not be aware of. Some kids, however, just like attention (any kind) and show off. As their teacher, I have to be in tune with what they need. Sometimes I can give them what they need, get them going in the right direction or find someone that can help them where I cannot. Ultimately, it is the personal responsibility of each student to be successful. It has to be their desire and effort that makes them successful.
Just a little observation from a loving teacher.

Which is describing a basketball team to the T. All those factors work with both the coach (the teacher) and students (the players). I wish I had a magic ball to tell me why they do the “fall way behind” in the first quarter???? If they like to show that they can come from behind to make it exciting it does do that but they sometimes fall short in important games like last night!! How many heard the interview with Kobe after the game? He said that there was no way they weren’t going to win. Since some of the fans booed Fisher the last time they played in Salt Lake they had made a solemn promise as a team to win this one. Guess the booing wasn’t such a good idea.
Nothing to do here. But I saw Matt Harpring today!!! Yay got 3 signatures
and a picture!
I’m so happy! Next week I’m going to seee Deron Williams maybe.
Hopefully
