Thanks Chris Paul. For as much smack talk as CP3 endures from Jazz fans – he just did the Jazz organization a favor. Of course I don’t expect anyone will be sending out a Thank You Card, after all Paul was just doing his job. Chris Paul tallied a Triple Double as he led the Hornets past the Golden State Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

Because the Warriors lost and the Jazz hold the tie-breaker over the Warriors – The Utah Jazz have officially clinched a spot in the 2008 playoffs. Congratulations team.

One down – Two to go. You can be assured that the Jazz focus will be on winning all of the remaining 5 games left on the schedule. With the playoff berth secure – there are still two prizes left to be won before the regular season time runs out.

The Jazz have all but clinched the Northwest Division title. Denver also fell on Sunday leaving the Jazz with a 5 game lead on their division rival. The Jazz lead the season series 2-1, but because there is still one game to be played between the Jazz and the Nuggets the tie-breaker has no bearing - yet. So this means the very next Jazz win or Nuggets lose will give the Division to the Jazz. Both teams play on Tuesday.

The other big prize is Homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs. This could very easily come down to the last game of the year. The Jazz(51-26) are battling Houston (52-25) and Phoenix(51-26) for the fourth best record in the West. The Jazz own the head to head tie-breaker against the Suns, and are tied 1-1 with the Rockets – each team winning on the other teams home court. The Jazz will host Houston on April 14th.
