FINAL SCORE — MAVS 97 JAZZ 94
Too many mistakes in a close game. They didn’t get back defensively after Deron tied it. A few wasted possessions, etc.
Deron hit a banked 3 with :06 left to tie it at 94, the Mavs don’t call a timeout and Dirk gets a three. Not sure why he was so open. Boozer went to him the minute the shot went in from Deron but he got really free.
Great 4th quarter action — 7 lead changes and 5 ties in the quarter.
Josh Howard didn’t play in the 2nd half and Jason Terry took over the role and scored 21 second half points.
Dirk was pretty tough – 32 points on the night.
Jazz only got two defensive stops in the final 7 minutes of the game.
Memo had another double double 19 points and 14 rebounds
Boozer took only 1 shot in the second half. He struggled defensively on Dirk on a few key possessions of the game.
Huge play in the game was Jason Kidd grabbed an offensive rebound after a Terry miss with the Jazz leading 77-75 and Kidd threw it back out to Dirk for a three and gave the Mavs the lead.
8:40 4th Quarter — Jazz 75 Mavs 72
Two big shots by Korver
Great plays by Memo and super defense from Milsap
Dirk 0 for 2 in the quarter
Deron and Boozer on the bench
End of 3rd Quarter — Mavs 67 Jazz 66
Very strong effort by the Jazz tonight.
Only 10 turnovers in the game combined. Mavs have 4 Jazz have 6
Deron is trying to take over the game.
Boozer didn’t take a shot in the 3rd quarter. He didn’t make a huge effort and the Jazz didn’t do much to get him the ball.
Jazz had a great offensive 3rd Quarter — a 136 rating. 0 turnvoers in the quarter.
2:58 3rd Quarter — Mavs 62 Jazz 61
Jazz took their first lead since 2-0 at 61-60.
Jazz are playing a lot of zone tonight.
The three ball has brought the Jazz back into this game.
Boozer is completely absent from the offensive side of the game.
AK has played very well for the Jazz
When Kidd guards Deron, D-will takes him to the paint, Jason Terry has done a nice job defending Deron.
Key to the game will be when Dirk goes to the bench
Halftime — Mavs 47 Jazz 40
Okur hit two three’s to get the Jazz back in the game a little
Jazz offensive rating is just 95 in contrast to their regular 115
Mavs offensive rating is 112 right on their season average – so the issue is the Jazz offense
The Mavs are not giving the Jazz any room in the paint and are forcing them to the outside.
Kidd had a brilliant start.
Deron has been uncomfortable thus far.
2:58 2nd Quarter — Mavs 42 Jazz 30
Mavs are playing great defense. The Jazz have no room anywhere on the floor.
Fast Break points are 19-2 Mavericks
Brandon Bass has 10 points off the bench for the mavericks
The Jazz are not taking advantage of Dirk being on the bench.
D-Will is struggling tonight.
End of 1st Quarter — Mavs 24 Jazz 15
Jazz have picked up the intensity and the focus
The Mavs are really limited when Dirk is on the bench and that may have changed the game as much as the Jazz picking up the intensity.
Deron 1 of 4 and Boozer 2 of 5.
Mavs at 50% Jazz at 33%
6:05 1st Quarter — Mavs 16 Jazz 4
Kidd has been great, he hit the first 7 points of the game for the Mavs and then lead three fast breaks.
The Mavs are in transition and getting easy looks.
Jazz can’t hit. Boozer is 0 for 3 and 0 for 2 at the line. The team is 1/7
The jazz have been bobbling balls and sloppy.
