Onward and Upward
Last night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks was reDirk….I mean ridiculous. It was a great close game at the end, but I’m afraid the quote of the day on KJAZZ t.v. was terribly apt. The quote belonged to Jerry Sloan who was talking about his team’s lack of experience in the playoffs, and the possible situations that would not go the Jazz’ way due to their lack. Sadly, the whipping boy of last night’s sports talk radio, Carlos Boozer, deserved the criticism he received. Who leaves his man open for a dagger shot with that much time left in the game? Especially when his man is the reigning MVP, the former 3 point shooting champion, and THE go to guy for end of game, buzzer beater, game winning shots? Oh well, onward and upward.
I don’t think that I can possibly wrap my mind around the way the playoff seedings will go. All I can say is that I would much rather see the Jazz play Phoenix than Houston in the first round. Is a Houston pairing still possible? I really don’t know. The thing with Houston is that you can only dodge the bullet so many times with the same team.
I think the Jazz are peaking at the right time now, despite the disappointing loss to the Mavericks. The Jazz did show some promise in the loss, namely the excellent play of their bench players. Ronnie Price has been impressive lately, and my crush continues for Kyle Korver. The Jazz should learn from their mistakes and missed opportunities in these last tough games, and it will come just in time for them to excel in the playoffs.

I disagree on the optimal playoff seedings. I’d much rather see Houston sans Yao than Phoenix with Shaq (and a rejuvenated Amare). Neither one is a cakewalk, but on balance I think the Suns a substantially better team than the Rockets.
I agree with Pudge Houston would be a better match up even if they have home court. Was just hoping the Jazz could get to the 3 seed because I think Houston will be the 6. But I called it, I thought they would lose to Dallas after beating New Orleans. They’ve done that all year. Dallas is now 3-11 against winning teams since picking up Kidd. I consider them a Crappy team. I’m actually surprised they are going to make the playoffs.
