New-found media darlingness
I don’t really have much of anything new to write today. I’m just enjoying basking in the praise being afforded the Jazz by the national media as of late. All of us Jazz fans have known for a long time of just how good this team is, despite the month of DECEMBER. It finally feels like the Jazz are getting their due. Nationally syndicated radio sports talk shows are interviewing Jazz players, talking about how if they’re a team in the Western Conference, they want no part of playing the Jazz–it feels good doesn’t it? I think in Utah we all have a chip on our shoulders because of the media snub that we usually get in all sports, not just the NBA; but then doesn’t everyone else in a small market feel the same? I’m still going to enjoy feeling the martyr though.
I do really want to see the Jazz win against San Antonio during the last regular season game. I think the Spurs really felt as if they’d been spurred incessantly the last time they were here, and you can bet they are all aware of Utah’s infamous losing streak at their place, and they will fight extra hard to keep the status quo. Manu hasn’t been playing lately, and I hope he will be playing tonight, so that he too can witness the breaking of a too long-held record by the Spurs.

Well we were maybe media darlings, with the exception of one commentator on the ESPN half time show. He said that the Jazz were playing like typical garbage, and that Mehmet was a scared puppy dog, that most of all that the Jazz were just wasting ESPN’s time. Frankly I immediately wrote emails to ESPN callling for that commentators firing. That kind of biased reporting is uncalled for and frankly a joke. I also mentioned to ESPN that if they feel that it IS a waste of time, do us a favor and let our local carriers and TNT carry the games, they dont think its a waste of time, and are happy to cover the Jazz. I am calling on all of you loyal fans to let ESPN know how you feel about that commentators comments, and that you too feel there is no place for that. Even more lets put that loyal Rabid Jazz Fan power behind making a point that we are NOT garbage. Ya know we never really led at all in that game, but at least stayed in the same point range. NO Hornets LOST after having like a 15 point lead, and wound up on the losing end of a 30 point swing to Dallas, and were they wasting ESPN’s time, NO, and did they get the same kinda treatment, NO. LET ESPN KNOW WE ARE MAD AS HELL!
GO JAZZ!
Do we have the name of this ??Commentater??. We would like to write but my husband says the writing will hold more precedence if we have a name. We most certainly DO want to write to ESPN.
I will try to figure out who it was. I was in the kitchen doing dishes when it happened, and heard it and know it was one of the two halftime studio guys. I will try to do some research into this. Also check out KSL.com, there was a seperate incident with an ESPN radio guy making comments about mormons and the jazz, etc. Again, offensive comments. It amazes me that in this day and age, that this kind of biased, blatant, offensive reporting is allowed. Personally if I were the ESPN boss I would fire both of these guys.
GO JAZZ!
The one who made the comment is his majesty Stephen A. Smith (two guesses for what the A stands for). Everyone should let ESPN know how much of a jerk this guy is, and that they need to fire him!
GO JAZZ!!!
yea that sounds like stephen a. smith he says that about everyone cause he’s bitter he wasn’t good enough to play. they will never fire him because of RATINGS he gets them
He only gets ratings because he screams about how good the Lakers/Kobesters are (even when they aren’t) and so the Kobe lovers eat him up.
