‘Deron-Keeping it Behind Him’ (H. How – NBAE/getty Images)

One of the best things about the playoff time of year is the absolute NBA saturation of the media (especially the locally). I can turn on any Salt Lake based radio sports talk show during the afternoon and count on at least 85% of the content to be regarding the Jazz or the teams that the Jazz are playing, and might play in the rest of the playoffs. It’s wonderful! None to very little talk of baseball, NFL, golf, etc. For me it’s great. I’m interested in other sports, but generally I’ll turn the channel to find someone who’s talking about the Jazz any day. Right now I don’t have to turn the channel unless it’s a commercial on one station, so I’ll bounce to another. Of course it’s seems the radio stations know about this tendency, so all commercial breaks occur at the same time–or is it just me that feels this way? I have another question. If I were to call a sports talk station with a comment about the Jazz, would I have to yell? Because it seems to be a requirement of anyone who calls in. Maybe there’s some special filter on sports talk radio that makes everyone sound like they’re yelling. Anyhow…..

The award for best unintended pun EVER;goes to: Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz. After game two against the Rockets, the TNT reporter with the crazy clothes asked Deron about his tailbone injury, soreness, etc. Deron’s response ended with “I have to put it all behind me.” Well Deron, figuratively, I hope you do. Literally, I think you already have, or specifically, your injury has placed itself behind you, as I’m sure you’re sorely aware of every time you sit down. Oh and yes, the pun was intended.
