Useless Basketball Things
Posted by Karen Chatterton on May 01, 2008
Some of our sixth grade students were asked to write poems about “useless things.” Riley, a loyal Jazz fan, of course, choose basketball. Here is her very clever poem.
Useless Basketball Things
by Riley K.
A basketball without air,
the Jazz without their mascot bear;
players that aren’t tall,
a game without a basketball,
jerseys without the player’s last name,
a time when the Jazz had no fame,
games without a referee,
Jason Hart without the #3,
Williams without Boozer,
if you don’t like the Jazz you are a loser!

Riley, you are such an amazing poet. And I think you are the coolest girl in the whole wide world. I wish more people would realize that you are absolutely perfect.
