Final Score – Lakers 120 Jazz 110
This game was never close. It is very discouraging that the Lakers dictated everything that went on in this game.
It felt like the Jazz were at the Lakers whim at all times.
None of the Jazz stars played well.
Milsap was the best Jazz player tonight — he was fantastic with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Carlos Boozer questions are going to continue as he was 3 of 10 with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The Lakers showed more of their offense in this game and the Jazz seemed helpless to stop it.
Deron stats are infalted by hitting three straight three’s in the foul portion of the game.
Kobe was unstoppable he had 34, Odom and Gasol were a handful and Fischer was the nail in the coffin.
The Lakers were far shaper than they were in Game 1 and that is daunting.
They say a series doesn’t start until the home team losses but this still feels as though quite a statement has been made in the opening two games of this series.
The good news is the Jazz scored but what I don’t know is did the Jazz score because the Lakers didn’t need to get a stop or did they score because they were capable of scoring. I am not sure the Lakers couldn’t have gotten stops when they wanted to.

2:24 4th Quarter – Lakers 109 Jazz 99
Not going to happen tonight . We are coming back to Utah down 0-2
I am surprised how much the Lakers dominated this game.
The Jazz were never in it,
Interesting Sloan had Harpring on Kobe which seems absurd but he was quite and non-aggressive and the minute he got AK on him he took off and made every play.
This game was lost a lot earlier than the 4th but a ton of missed opportunities to make it a game. Boozer got blocked with a chance to cut it to 5 and it went the other way for a Fischer 3 that made it a ten point game instead of a 5 point game.
Fischer is just crushing us tonight. He has 22.

5:58 4th Quarter – Lakers 99 Jazz 92
Boozer at the line for two free throws to cut it to 5. Would be the closest since 19-13
Huge play with a chance to cut it 4, Milsap who has been brilliant all night misses a lay-up in traffic and Kobe goes the other way for on a fast break
Lakers are matching every moment Deron is in the game with Fischer
Harpring also missed a jumper that could have made it a 4 point game.

7:50 4th Quarter – Lakers 98 Jazz 89
Jazz can’t make the play to get this into a tighter game
Milsap continues to be great.
Kobe is checking back in the game
How the Jazz insist on leaving Vujacic open from three is beyond me, he shots 46% since Jan 1 from behind the arch

End of 3rd Quarter – Lakers 93 Jazz 83
Sorry I having some internet issues so I lost two posts.
Both teams are scoring at will.
This quarter was Kobe’s world and we just lived in it. He was 6 of 7 for 15pts.
The Jazz are scoring at will, they hit 16 of 25 shots but the Lakers did the same they hit 11 of 18.
I am really surprised that the Lakers are dictating everything so far in this game. I thought the Jazz would have some spans where they were able to dictate the game but it hasn’t happened yet.
Both Okur and Boozer have 4 fouls.
Derek Fischer is killing us that ungreatful jerk. He has 19 points.
Odom has 19 and 14 rebounds.

3rd Quarter — Lakers 80 Jazz 66
I am currently investigating how many Lakers girls have make-up to cover up their stamp tramps. I am at 3.
Boozer finally got a field goal – first possession of the quarter
Lakers are pushing the tempo and getting a lot of transition
Jazz can’t stop this team.
I am really surprised how much the Lakers are dictating everything in this series. There really hasn’t been a span yet where the Jazz were in control. If the Lakers want to they can. Is the theme so far for the series.

Halftime — Lakers 63 Jazz 49
No defense at all in the second quarter
Lakers scored on all but 7 possessions. Jazz scored on all but 8 possessions.
Lakers are shooting 61%
Jazz were turnover free in the 2nd quarter and dominated the glass again.
Milsap has 13 points; AK and Okur have 8 points
Gasol 15; Odom 13; Bryant 12; Fischer 12

2:29 2nd Quarter — Lakers 55 Jazz 43
Lakers have completely changed the pace and this game at a very high pace
Lakers are 9 of 14 in the quarter. Jazz have just 5 stops in the entire quarter
Deron just hit a three for his first points on the night.
Jazz tried to play zone and that was a joke.
Denzel Washington is in a Yankees hat across the way.

5:46 2nd Quarter — Lakers 45 Jazz 34
It is hard to live blog with the Laker girls dancing in my face.
Paul Milsap is a mad man. He is everywhere. He has 10 points and is keeping the Jazz in the game.
All the Harpring bashers have a year’s worth of ammunition in this performance alone.
Jerry went with Ronnie Price for an extended run.
Gasol is scoring in the post tonight.
Deron and Boozer both scoreless still

9:34 2nd Quarter — Lakers 35 Jazz 26
Boozer got his third foul on the first possession of the 2nd Quarter on an absurd over the back reach.
Korver transition three.
Bad shots by the Lakers bench.

End of the 1st Quarter — Lakers 33 Jazz 18
Jazz lead 13-12
Jazz hit 5 of their first 6 and then missed 15 of their next 18 shots. Ouch
A complete disaster. Too much dribbling by the Jazz.. Everytime one of their guys puts the ball on the floor they get in trouble.
The Jazz committed 7 turnovers and most of them were on the dribble, Lakers have 10 points off the turnovers
Lakers hit 12 of 18 shots. Kobe has 10 points, odom has 8
Deron and Boozer are a combined 0 for 5 with 0 points.
Insane pace of play 27 possessions

2:55 1st Quarter — Lakers 25 Jazz 15
Lakers went on a 13-0 run.
Jazz went 9 possessions without a point
The Jazz are getting in the paint and just getting suffocated
Boozer leaves with 2 fouls and 0 points and 0 rebounds.
The Jazz had a great flow but it is gone. They are getting stuck on one side of the floor/
Jerry and Danny Crawford got into it big time. Sloan ended up with a Tech, a well earned one I may add. If any man every point at another man that many times in another setting police would be called.
Okur and Boozer with 2 fouls.

6:25 1st Quarter — Lakers 15 Jazz 13
Insane pace to the game early.
The Lakers are trying to get Kobe in early deep post ups out of transition.
Ak is very active.
Jazz scored on 5 of their first 6 possessions
Lakers scored on 6 of their first 7 possessions
Lakers are pushing the tempo and getting a lot of quick early looks.
Jack Black is sitting right across from me.
I wonder if you are a celeb and you get 5th row tickets do you decide not to come

Pre-Game
Kobe gets his MVP — crowd goes nuts, Kobe said something but I couldn’t understand it
His wife is wearing a tutu and his kids are dressed in all sorts of Kobe outfits.
Let me make this clear — I detest the Lakers, I detest the city and I can’t wait to win this game.

Officials
Danny Crawford (23 years and 202 playoffs games)
Greg Willard (19 years and 87 playoff games)
Tony Brothers (he made the AK flop call) (13 seasons and 23 playoff games)

Danny Crawford is the 5th most experienced official in the NBA.

Keys to the Game 2 win

1. Contain Odom off the dribble.
2. Get Boozer active early mostly if he is guarded by Gasol. If they are hiding Gasol on Okur then let Okur beat him up early.
3. Play smart and focused. Game 1 the Jazz didn’t play an intelligent game.
4. Play from ahead
5. Make the Lakers hit outside shots

Stamp tramps? Do you mean Tramp Stamps? Actually I like the moniker (but I’m a 52 year old white guy)

Derek Fisher an ungrateful jerk? I know you were being facetious.

Otherwise, a pretty objective blog from someone who hates LA and the Lakers.

Boozer has to pull his head out or we are finished. And if he doesn’t I say trade him for a draft pick or two and sign Elton Brand (he plays defense)

By the way prophet you were wrong about game 2 at least. Does that mean your false?

Linda McFarland on May 08, 2008 said:

I think you were most likely being facetious about Fisher, but that is entirely up to you. I do have to get something off my chest (or at least my mind). I have thought Derek Fisher was great. When he was with the Jazz my heart went out to him and his family. He was greast to show up at the one game after leaving his daughter’s bedside. Now, things just are smelling a little funny, Last night there were a few things that bothered me a little and made my little mind start going around. I did wonder a little last year when there is the U of U hospital and Primary Childrens hospital but dismissed that thought. I thought the Jazz org. and Larry were wonderful to let him out of his contract. Let me prefice this with the fact that I understand pro sports (mostly). I know it is a job and you should be good at your job. Last night during time outs the Lakers go to the bench and the coaches gather in a circle to talk. This is what usually happens but did you notice that this game Fisher went to the coaches circle?? Now, I don’t mind if he plays hard against us as a player (maybe that is a lie) but I know that I mind if he leaves the Jazz under those circumstances and COACHES against us. I noticed a couple times when D-Will was talking to Fisher, it looked anything but friendly and D-Will had a both hurt-mad look. Maybe I am just one of those old ladies who start nasty rumors but this is what I saw and what makes me wonder a lot. Even with this, I hope Jazz fans don’t boo Fisher at the next game because Kobe said that was the reason he was going to bury the Jazz!!!!!! Just a lot of my crazy thoughts. Well actually, a lot of my thoughts.

Hey Linda,
I read on article by Bill Plaschke that part of the main reason Fisher ended up in Los Angeles is because his wife’s family resides out there and it wasn’t just because of the medical service he could receive. That’s a big reason he didn’t pick NY over LA. I am sure with him traveling alot it is much easier on his wife and Tatum to have the grand parents around considering the girls condition. That would be a main concern for me to have my wife be in the most comfortable environment to help care for their daughter. On the point of Fisher coaching against the Jazz, he was probably doing this very thing against the lakers back when he was playing for our team as he played for the Lakers for several years before he played for the Jazz. Unfortunately we never had this advantage in the playoffs against them. I have nothing but Love for D-Fish and although its frustrating he was truly the X-factor in this last game I respect him choosing his family first. im with you on Kudos to Larry Miller. Lets cut Derek some slack fans if you are attending games 3 and 4 im sure there is much more to it than he is revealing to the media and i highly doubt he hated out great state and basketball team enough to use his daughters cancer as an excuse to cut his salary by 6.5 million to get out of here. We got the more athletic point guard in Deron Williams anyways he just better show up for game 3. Boozer quit fouling and let’s go!!! this is the major problem with the Lakers length we need boozer on the court at least 37 minutes on the floor we can’t expect Millsap to be able to match Pau and Lamar Odom and Turiaf’s energy for 48 minutes although he was great in Game 2. Brewer has to make that outside shot his missed like a dozen 18-foot jump shots already in this series. If he hits half of those the Jazz are competing.

Oh on a final note to Larry Miller, “I’ll see you at church but there is no way im missing game 4″

Well I can appreciate what you have said Linda. I do plan on boo’ing Fisher along with every other enemy player who enters our house. I have no love for any other team. I loved Fisher when he was here, but the minute he left for his daughter’s sake (apparently a lie according to some media), he became just like any other former Jazz player who left us. When he comes into our arena in a Lakers uniform he is the enemy plain and simple. Now I wanna say that something it really screwy with the whole deal. The media said the other night that his daughter was still undergoing treatment in NYC. If that is the case, he should in playing for Philly, NYC, NJ, Boston or one of the other teams in that region. But he is not. They also noted that he took a “pay cut” to go to LA. Maybe in the form of his regular check, but I will bet he planned this to get a ring as he’s getting older. I also find it odd that about the time that Fisher decided to leave here and go to the Lakers, that Kobe stopped whining so much about being traded. Think what you all want. Fisher may be a stand up guy, and a good guy off the court. I can certainly feel for the guy for his daughters suffering. But I think he used her as a scapegoat to get out of Utah and go to LA (even further from where his daughters doctors are). I have thought about this a lot over the summer and season. The more I think about it, and from some of the things I have heard from people who knew him in person, he planned this all the minute we lost in San Antonio, and was laughing behind the backs of Jazz Management on his way out of town. Also I think that while we tried to do the right thing by releasing him, we should have TRADED him to where he wanted to play so we could get something worthwhile for him. At least that way would could have insured that while we were doing the right thing, so would he. My personal feeling is that he jumped ship, using his daughter as a scapegoat so he could go win another ring. In my mind that would classify him as a selfish person, and just a plain jerk. Maybe I am wrong, I can only base these thoughts on what I have heard in person, what I have read, and what I see. Believe me this though, KOBE will get a LOT more boo’s than fisher. Let feeding time at the ZOO begin folks, Lakers are on the menu!!!

GO JAZZ!!!

Linda – I tend to agree that things are smelling a bit funny as far as Fisher is concerned, as your analysis of what is going on seems to match mine. I do think that he left for the right reasons as LA is his home and that’s where he is more comfortable dealing with his family issues. Perhaps, in his mind, he was treated poorly by the fans during the regular season. He figures that the fans didn’t care about him or his situation and as such why should he care about them?

We treated him poorly – he treated us poorly – Things seem to be pretty even. It would be interesting to have no booing and no cheering wherever he is concerned. An eery silence would be fitting. Let him choose where things stand.
Or possibly a better scenario. We show him a lot of love when he is introduced into the game and then boo him during the game as we would any of the stanky sellout LA players / fans. That would at least show we have love for the guy and what he did for us, but we really dislike who he’s playing for. I can’t say I know much about what’s going on with the Clippers, but why not go play for them?

As to the Jazz… They seem to be buying into all of the laker hype. Like they think the lakers are a better team. Because of this the lakers are playing loose and the Jazz are playing really tight. The Jazz can easily beat them if they play their game. For as well as the lakers have played and as poorly as the Jazz have, the lakers haven’t been winning by much.

It’s time to seperate the boys from the men. I fully expect D-Will, Caveman Booze and the rest of the Jazz squad to launch a barrage unlike any the lakers have ever seen. To show them – Hey, we’re not going to lay down and die. We’re better than you are and we’re going to send you home crying. The thing I really like about this Jazz team is when push comes to shove, they don’t back down.

Take it to them – blow them out twice here and then you’ve got them on their heels. They don’t play loose and we carry the dominant force to their house and beat them for 3 straight and then head back here for four in a row. Simply a matter of showing them who’s in charge.

Go JAZZ!

just face it jazz fans, fisher is a professional athlete and a vicious competitor at that. he will be in attack mode for whomever he plays for. Like he said himself, he loves Utah but they stand in the way of his goal and the goal of his teammates. Do you really expect him to be charitable??? Lakers are up two games because their entire roster is in the same attack mode, i just don’t see it in all of the Jazz, they will lose in 5 winning only one at home

bill on May 09, 2008 said:

You should remember that Fisher went to the Lakers when they were a train wreck. No one, including Fisher, could have foreseen the Gasol trade or even the emergence of Bynum. So Fisher didn’t leave the Jazz to get a ring. He didn’t leave for money, obviously! He left for family reasons, pure and simply. In any case, Fisher was a backup guard for the Jazz–he’s gotten toasted all season by Nash, Paul and Parker. Deron just needs to play better, but he needs some help…
