My Take: Jazz Beat Lakers In Game 3

‘Big Game For Booz’ (Andrew D. Bernstein - NBAE/Getty Images)
FINAL SCORE — JAZZ 104 LAKERS 99
The Boozer arrived and he arrived big — 27 points and 20 rebounds.
Boozer scored 11 of 13 points in the key stretch in the 4th quarter. He was unreal.
The key part of the game was getting Fischer with 2 fouls early. The Lakers were +8 with Fischer on the floor and -13 with him on the bench.
The three ball was falling — hitting 6 of 16.
One more win from really making this a series.
This was a great effort — holding the Lakers under a 100 points for the first time in 16 games.
Okur had 2 2 points and 7 rebounds. He also nailed 4 three’s
The key to the Lakers is often what they get from Farmar, Vujacic and Fischer — they were just 3 of 15 combined. Sasha was 0 for 3 and Farmar was 0 for 6. Young guys don’t play as well on the road.
:14 4th Quarter — Jazz 103 Lakers 99
Jumpball in Lakers offensive end - guys went after the lose ball harder than NFL players go after a fumble.
Offfensive foul Okur and missed three by korver
1:57 4th Quarter — Jazz 101 Lakers 92
BOOZ BABY BOOZ — 6 straight all on the pick and roll with Deron.
Boozer has 27 and 19 rebounds
3:22 4th Quarter — Jazz 95 Lakers 92
Jazz are hanging on by a thread with a ton of time and an unstoppable MVP on the other side.
Jazz just committed three straight turnovers. AK got stripped, DW messed up back to back pick and rolls.
Lakers have scored on 6 straight trips.
Lakers are now +10 with Fischer on the floor,. he has altered the entire series in every game.
Boozer with another huge play, missed his second free throw, got his own board and followed.
KOBE HAD THE SICKEST PLAY OF THE NIGHT - he got caught in the air and intentionally threw the ball off the glass and caught it himself for the dunk.
5:27 4th Quarter — Jazz 90 Lakers 83
Boozer with great effort, Korver missed a 16 footer and Boozer grabbed the rebound missed and got his rebound back and put it in.
They are now doubling Boozer and Fischer forced another turnover on that double.
Lakers are -13 when Fischer is on the bench and +6 when he is on the floor.
AK is on Kobe, Boozer has to try to guard Odom, that is tough.
Jazz are flipping the pick and roll as we talked about on Locked on Sports today. Flipping the pick is when they run it one direction and then immediately flip the pick around and run it the other direction.
9:02 4th Quarter — Jazz 86 Lakers 74
Ton of big plays.
Deron try to go wolf dunk on the Lakers but Turiaf blocked and fouled him — he hit both free throws.
Kobe came in, Hapring guarding him, Kobe hit him with an elbow to the mouth - offensive foul
Jazz tried to post Harp on Kobe, Kobe blocked it, the ball went out to Deron who picked it up on a tough dribble and then hit a 15 footer.
Deron did injury his wrist earlier, he is carrying it carefully.
Jordan Farmar is having a tough night as is Sasha.
End of the 3rd Quarter — Jazz 79 Lakers 72
Jazz did a nice job holding off the Lakers surge but we are a long way from over
Kobe finished the quarter with 14 in the quarter.
Boozer is very active and has made some nice plays. He has been great on the defensive glass
Boozer has 13 defensive rebounds
Lakers are +1 when Fischer is on the floor and -8 when he is on the bench
Jazz will have to win this on the defensive end of the floor.
5:00 3rd Quarter — Jazz 70 Lakers 59
At halftime I said Kobe was bizarrely passive. No longer. He has scored 10 straight Laker points highlighted by a nasty dunk. However, in this span the Jazz have answered every time. The Jazz have outscored the Lakers during the span 12-10.
The best answer was after Kobe’s sick dunk Memo hit a three on the other side. His second of the quarter.
Deron missed his three shots, wonder if the wrist is an issue.
Halftime — Jazz 52 Lakers 43
Solid first half by the Jazz
The Jazz held the Lakers without a field goal for 4:57 from the 6:59 mark to the 2:02 mark. The Jazz went on a 13-3 run in that span.
The Jazz are moving a great deal better on the offensive end.
Defensively the Jazz deflection numbers must be terrific.
Jazz shot 12 of 19 in the 2nd quarter and the Lakers were just 5 of 17.
The Lakers have been good at the line, 12 of 13. The Jazz are 6 of 8.
Kobe has been bizarre in how inactive he has been. I am sure he will put his stamp on the ballgame.
When you look at the last Lakers losses they have had poor outings from Fischer, Vujacic and Farmar. Today those three are 1 of 8.
2:46 2nd Quarter — Jazz 47 Lakers 36
Deron just drove to the basket and got his shot blocked and was hurt as he fell to the ground. He was down for some time and it looks like it is a wrist injury. Deron came back in,
Lakers do not have a field goal since the 6:59 mark — 5 straight misses
Gasol is having a really tough night for the Lakers.
Jazz offense is running more freely, they have been very poor in the fast break
5:24 2nd Quarter — Jazz 41 Lakers 33
Turnovers are the big part of the story today. Lakers have committed 9 to the Jazz 3
The Jazz have their starters plus Korver and the Lakers have gone to their starters
Kobe has just 5 points.
Memo leads the Jazz 10
Floor looks a lot larger tonight as the Jazz spacing is much better and having Korver on the floor is a big help.
Harpring beat up guarded Kobe for a little while.
End of 1st Quarter — Jazz 23 Lakers 23
Milsap and Harpring enter with the Jazz leading 18-14
Kobe went 0 for 3 in the quarter. he did have 3 assists.
Boozer finishes the quarter 3 of 7. He was impactful.
Ronny Turiaf got free for three straight baskets, the Jazz had a defensive breakdown on two of them.
Harpring 0 for 2.
3:11 1st Quarter — Jazz 18 Lakers 14
Memo hits a three.
Jazz start 1/8 then have hit 6/8.
15-3 run by the Jazz since Fischer went out.
5:42 1st Quarter — Jazz 11 Lakers 11
Awful start for the Jazz hitting just 1 of their first 8 shots.
Fischer got two fouls in the first 4 mins of the game
The Jazz are on a 8-0 run since Fischer go this third foul
Boozer is 1 for 4 from the field.
Lakers commit 4 turns in a stretch of 5 possessions.
Jazz are still just 4 of 12. 3 of the first 5 shots were from Brewer and AK
Keys to the Game
1. Be really nasty
2. Deron starting early.
3. Opening up the floor offensively
4. Stop the Lakers early offense
5. Play from ahead.

Go JAZZ! This was a fun game to watch, very good game, the crowd was into it. Well worth the 400 dollars I spent of 5 tickets
sickest play? no,no,no,no….its called traveling…when you go up in the air and come back down on one foot before releasing the ball……? watch the replay….i noticed it right away….the only 2 guys in the league they dont call traveling on that kindof play is lebron and kobe.
Backs were to the wall and the Jazz squad brought it. THAT is why I like this team.
BOOOOOZE!
