My Response

Ok, I’m a slacker and I know it but I’m back now and I’ve alot to say!
Why the big to do about the Jazz playing on Sunday? With me being of the LDS faith and “Mormon” and my parents and siblings being of no particular faith the first thing that I heard was “Well, because Miller is Mormon he’s not going to even go to the game or watch it on TV”.
My response to that is this:
Not working on Sunday (or playing) has nothing to do with being “Mormon”. One of the commandments is “Keep the Sabbath Day Holy”. I wasn’t raised LDS but I did grow up going to Church. Baptist, Christian what ever was available at the time is where we went to Church. I remember being told we couldn’t go swimming down at the pond because it was Sunday or we couldn’t go here or there because it was Sunday. I remember being together as a family on Sunday’s and enjoying each other’s company. I remember eating dinner together with everyone home on Sunday’s.
I think that Miller also feels that family’s should be together on Sunday’s and that is why he chooses not to hold games on Sunday’s in Utah. Let’s say you have a husband that is a huge Jazz fan and a wife that is not. The Jazz are playing on Sunday and the husband leaves the family to go to the Jazz game. So what happens? Here you have a family that during the week are running here and there and working, come Saturday you have the things that need to be done around the house and shopping to do along with a list of honey do’s and Sunday is the one day that you can relax and enjoy doing absolutely nothing except enjoy the family. Now, if Miller was to allow games on Sunday’s you would have one more thing to tempt you to leave your family. One more reason why those working at the ESC have to work on Sunday’s and leave their families.
I agree with Larry Miller’s decesion and although I love the Jazz and would love to watch a game at the ESC I would prefer to keep my Sunday’s for family and re-grouping and getting ready for another busy week.

When something happens in Salt Lake, everyone always tries to bring the LDS religion into the senerio. Are they trying to say that Mormons are the only people who want their families together on Sunday rather than doing other things? I think not! If someone is unhappy with the way Miller does things with the Jazz then come up with the money, buy the team and run it like you want. He put up the money, bought the team and what he does or does not do is his business. I think I said it before that the best thing for a wife to do (if she is unhappy with his being gone for sports) is study the sport and join rather than fight him. Who knows, you may really like it. When we got married I knew I could stay at home alone while my hubby went to sport things or I could learn the game and be with him. Now it is alkmost like he us with me at the events.
