You Can take It With You

Personally I am not big on moral victories. Losing should never feel good. Not on a professional level. I do believe you can take lessons from losing – apply them – and make yourself a better player or team.

As a shooting guard in the league, your toughest nights of the year are going to be when you play the Rockets and the Lakers. T-Mac and Kobe are a difficult matchup for anyone assigned to guard them. For a Western Conference guard – you know these 7-8 nights a year are going to be a battle. They are arguably (the T-Mac part) the two toughest players to defend in the Association.

Ronnie Brewer just spent a month playing those two guys back to back to back to back – 12 times in a row. Add to it that those 12 meeting were on a higher more intense stage then the regular season games. Brewer played solid. By no means was he close to being the equalizer on the pair, but the best way to get to that point is to play them over and over. His opportunity to do so should add significantly to his growth.

It was obvious this season that the work Brewer put in to game over the summer paid off. As he cleaned out his locker last week he let it be known again that he was going to be working hard over the summer. That’s good to hear. If the Jazz find themselves in the same position next year – Brewer might just be the key to advancing. First for his defense, but also for his offense. Brewer benefited from relaxed defenses in the playoffs. Improving his jump shoot over the summer will help to not only spread the defense for his team but make Kobe expend valuable energy actually guarding Brewer.

brewer is my favorite player next to deron williams he’ll be defensive player of the year next year he’ll be in the dunk contest and average 18 points per game and 4 steals a game. 5 for life 4okur, 5boozer, 2kirilenko, 3brewer, 1williams. backup milsap, harpring, korver, price, almond, fesenko, miles, and whoever we get in the draft june 26.

I agree that these playoffs ( and actually all season) Brewer has grown greatly in his basketball skills and that all important knowledge of basketball playing in the big times. He is a young man who knew what he wanted and practiced hard to get it. Now it is great to hear that he knows what it takes to keep his spot. As you say, it hurts to loose but I think we can be proud and be anxious for next year!!

Brewer has got to get MORE minutes. He has the talent and potential and works brilliantly with the Jazz offense. He needs to be getting 30 minutes a game for the entire season. In order for Boozer to succeed the Jazz need a big man that can play the post effectively so he isn’t stuck trying to post up guys that are bigger and stronger than he is.

I think it’s great that Ronnie is going to be working hard on his game this summer. He has proven that he can play in the “Sloan System” which is historically a hard nosed defense first style.

I hope that all of the guys are going to be working on thier weakness’ this summer. Everybody should come back next season with a fresh attitude and a new vision of reaching the mountain top. It’s going to be a new season full of new opportunities.

This last season was pretty bumpy ride. I see a lot of paralell’s between the Jazz season, the playoff run and game six of the second series. It’s time to focus on the posative and apply the experience obtained over the last couple of seasons. Let’s Go Jazz!!!

brewer is spectactular in case you all forgot this was only his second season he raised his average my more than triple from is rookie season plus he provides much needed energy and he will become a better defender as time goes on, no one comes in the the league a hall of fame defender but he will get better by guarding people like kobe and Labron he is a pretty good stat sheet filler as well

GO BREWER KEEP UP THE HARD WORK YOU WILL BE A JAZZ GREAT
