And the Lakers take it . . . again.

‘Where would they be without Kobe?’ (N. Graham - NBAE/Getty Images)
There probably should be some comfort in knowing that the team who eliminated the Jazz from the finals is the Conference Champ but because it is the Lakers, I find little solace.
As most of you know, my husband loves the Lakers. But me? I am tired of the same couple of teams being the Conference Champs. AND, I am SO TIRED of Kobe. Yes, he is talented. I give him that. Extremely talented. It drives me crazy when he just throws up a jump shot and it goes in seemingly EVERY TIME. He makes it look so easy. BUT, I am just tired of him being the ‘winning factor’ for the Lakers.
By that I mean, there is no possible way, in my opinion, that the Lakers could have beat the Jazz without Kobe. Overall our TEAM is much stronger. AND, Phil Jackson is a great coach but man, can he WHINE! One of the recent games, during a half-time break, he was asked why the Lakers were struggling and he said something like (I am paraphrasing here) ‘you want me to be honest with you, we’ve received some bad calls’. THE LAKERS??? PAALLLEEEAAASSSEEE. Like they are the only ones who get bad calls from time to time. QUIT WHINING! I thought it was ironic that the next game (or it could have been that very same game) ended with Derek Fisher not getting called for an obvious foul on the potentially game tying shot.
All that being said, I will hold the Lakers banner up high during the Championship because I want to cheer on the Western Conference, regardless of who it is. Now a Western Conference dynasty is one I’d like to see again. (Wow, I’m such a hypocrite

I want the celtics to win. I am a true jazz fan but I want more than anything other than a jazz championship is to see Kobe choke and the celtics take it. I can not stand Kobe, he’s too cocky. I believe that certain superstars in the nba get special treatment from the refs. Kobe gets away with more than any other player since Michael Jordan. And the people that compare Kobe to Jordan don’t know what their talking about. I hated Jordan for taking the ring away from the jazz, but he was a great player and a great person. Kobe may be a great talent but sometimes he’s spotty. I miss the good old days when nba players showed respect for their fans and themselves in the games and in their public lives.
I don’t like the Celtics (too much success and breaks in the past), but I HATE the Lakers!!! Go Celtics. Uugch, wash my mouth out.

Well said JR. I could never yell for the Lakers no matter who they played (unless it is the Jazz). They are cocky, they whine, and they have too much pull and money under the table (shame on me) from all the stars who love basketball. You will never convince me that Nicholson and such don’t have some financial involvment in the Lakers somehow. Anyway, I am pretty sure the Lakers will take it all but it doesn’t make me happy.
Hmm, I wonder why…
Maybe its because they knew if they had a Celtics vs. Lakers Finals it would make lots of money! Big teams, rivalry, you know…
Maybe…
I apologize for not responding to these comments sooner. We just got back from a FABULOUS vacation where we had to drive 10 miles just to get cell service. I was ELATED to see the Lakers DOWN 0-2. GO CELTICS. Hmmm….I may be sleeping on the couch tonight
