Turkish National Team Drops ‘Injured’ Okur

‘Back Issues?’ (Lisa Blumenfeld - NBAE/Getty Images)
According to the Turkish Daily News Memo Okur will not be on the Turkish National Team in the Olympics due to “severe” back injuries he experienced during the NBA season.
Here is the opening of the article…
Mehmet Okur, who plays for NBA team Utah Jazz, was not included in the Turkish national basketball team squad, which will play the European Championship 2009 preliminaries on Sept. 3-20. The Turkish center, who suffered severe back injuries last season, was dropped by coach Bogdan Tanjevic.
Was Memo playing under more pain than we were aware of? Has he injured his back more seriously since the end of the season? Was the back a cover up for an internal issue with Okur and the Coach? Those are all unanswered.

If Okur had back problems and was still able to perform like he did in the playoffs Boozer’s better be broken.
Played ball in turkey. good game tonite. Mehmet is better than 90 percent of team even with a “”"”SORE”"”"” back
