Williams For Three.

The Utah Jazz and Deron Williams announced that they have come to an agreement on a contract extension. Williams following in the steps of other young superstars opting for the 3 year max money deal with a player option on the fourth year. It was assumed the Jazz were hoping to sign the young point guard to a 5 year extension.
The hot topic now should be the benefits and shortcomings of the new deal.
The biggest complaint you will hear is that a longer deal in theory would have shown more loyalty to the Jazz. It would have kept Williams under contract for two more years, thus giving the Jazz more options. It also would have made it easier for the Jazz to lure free agents to Utah. Who wouldn’t want to play with one of the games most prolific passers. More importantly, who would not want to play with a winner.
The three year deal doesn’t necessarily mean Williams is going to bolt either. He is still under contract with the Jazz for 4 more years (the extension will not kick in until after the coming season. Williams has also moved his family to Utah full time. Thats something he can tell free agents when they question “who wants to live in Utah?” He also can take advantage of the Jazz practice facility, including working out with the rookies in the summer.
During contract negotiations Williams expressed interest in other players and personnel. By opting for the shorter deal, Williams undoubtedly gave himself a say in some future big moves, most notably the next coach. An interesting not is that Williams agent use to be a front office guy.
Are the answers sufficient to the questions? A lot can happen over the next 4 years. Maybe then we will have a better idea of the effects of the contract. Or maybe we will be discussing the next one. Hopefully.

Woo hoo! D-Will!
Well , I would like to see him for the long haul . I think that he is one of the main keys to our Jazz’s success . I am glad that he is still here , and I hope that we can get some talent to help him out . I think that we could get a chapionship with him aboard , but he has to have more players that want to win as bad as he does .
Go Jazz !!!!
I’m so glad they’ve got him locked in for several more years now. But now what about Booz.
I had to leave the Salt Lake Tribune Jazz thread site as they were ripping Boozer to pieces. They want him gone and I mean don’t look back when you leave.
What has the guy done that’s so wrong. He’s made the US Olympic team so he can’t stink too much. I just don’t understand.
How do you folks feel and do you feel that the bond between DWill and he is strong enough for him to stay. He’s only got this year left on his contract. I’ll tell ya, if I was hated as much as he is in Utah, I’s want to get out of town and go to a team that would appreciate my efforts. Believe me, coming from the East coast, there are many teams that would love to have Carlos Boozer on their team and if he does leave, Utah is going to be very sorry. Right or Wrong??????
