Something Old, Something New.

I have a short blog today. I’ll get right to the point. Or the point guard to be more precise.

When Team USA meets Spain for the gold medal on Sunday in Mens Olympic Basketball, the old will meet the new. At some point during the game Deron Williams will line up opposite Raul Lopez. A contrast in many ways.

Raul was highly touted when he first came to the Jazz. ‘Better than Tony Parker’ was how he was first billed. It never quite panned out though and he never found a spot leading the Jazz the way the fans and organization had become accustomed from the position. Maybe it was the injuries, maybe it was the international transition. It just never panned out, and in those seasons the Jazz struggled.

Williams has been everything Lopez was not. A top NBA point guard, a team leader, an unbreakable will, and as the Olympic outcome will undoubtedly prove – a winner.
