Thunder Struck!

So OKC will be the Thunder this upcoming NBA season. Although I like the name “Thunder” doesn’t it sound like a WFL team, or a WNBA team? Furthermore, the logo looks a tad too feminine to me.

I understand we live in a time when “pink is the new black”, and I also understand that “thunder” can be very difficult to draw - it can be like trying to draw your feelings; you end up with an impressionist painting, but I am straying from the topic: How can you get an NBA team and take this long to decide, and then not have something explosively awesome to back it up?

Does this logo foreshadow their intention of moving the team overseas to compete in FIBA Challenges?

Kevin Durrant; why didn’t you save yourself this shame of having to wear orange, red, white and blue? Could you of not requested a trade for your refusal to play for such atrocious colors?

There is of course the other-side of the spectrum: all teams must go through a bad logo/color scheme phase - we did it in the mid to late 90’s (brown, purple, silver, blue, powder blue?!?), in fact there are only two or three teams that have yet to suffer through it (Celtics, Lakers, Pistons), remember those rainbow clad Nuggets jerseys?

Now we also have the re-pin-striping of the Hornets… oh dear… oh dear…

Now I challenge you with this: design your own OKC Thunder Logo and submit it here!

Ha ha, the Nuggets uniform looks like it was made pixel by pixel on a DOS based computer system.

the astro’s were also one of the worst uni’s of that era.

I thought the Piston’s re-design back in Grant Hill’s day were pretty nasty. I hate Detroit anyway, but I like the classic Piston look… That wierd Horse/basketball logo was awful….

The Fakers White Alternate Uni’s suck too.

Anybody have a guess as to which music they’re going to play when the team takes the floor for intros at the home court? I’ll bet we have the same guess.

I don’t think it is that bad and certainly not feminine!! What are you expecting; skulls and cross bones? As long as the team doesn’t mind them then why should we care what a uniform looks like? Haven’t you been told that it takes a real man to wear pink?? The Jazz have had some colors that I like better than others but I can’t say I hate any uniform. Who cares if they are wearing anything but a jock strap if they play really well. Now that brings up a thought and a vision!! Maybe we should check what color everyone wears under the uniform. Is part of their logo really pink? I think in the picture I get on my screen it looks red. I am also sure that when getting the team put together they had more things to take up time than colors. If the Jazz wore pink and baby blue would that kjeep you from watching them?

i hope they do final countdown and mix it up….

… oh wait, that might be us!

linda, as a man that plays on a kickball team whose shirt color is pink, let me tell you how much that affects my play; not much.

but do i like it? no.
is it easier for other teams to mock us? yes.

a team uni is actually very important IMO - it supports things like mochismo, self confidence, as well as respect from the opposing team.

if the jazz wore pink i would definately be making fun of them all the time as i’m sure the other teams would be as well.

and for the record: skull and crossbones would totally rule.

Jared……To each their own, but I have to repectfully, completely disagree. First of all I can’t imagine an NBA player who would play less than their best because of a uniform. As for being made fun of, I would think that if anything, it would light a fire in the team. Of course, I am only female, but can’t go for skull & bones.

Linda, you certainly did put an image in my mind. You really are missing watching the Jazz aren’t you?

Linda McFarland on September 09, 2008 said:

Annie…Yes, yes and yes. The best part of this season is that my son has to be working out of town so his mother had to do the right motherly thing and I bought his share of the season tickets!!!!! I will get to be at 9 home games this year. With the price of gas and driving so far, we won’t to able to eat, but that would be good for me too.

Did anyone else notice that the new Thunder logo looks eerily similar to the NY Liberty logo from the WNBA?
