Injury Watch: The Jazz are Due

‘Gilbert Down’ (Lawrence Jackson - AP)
‘Gilbert Down’ (Lawrence Jackson - AP)

Gilbert Arenas - Washington Wizards - third knee surgery, estimated he will be out until at least December (still a $10 million dollar man?)
Jason Smith - Philadelphia 76ers - torn ACL, estimated to be out for the year
Kobe Bryant - La Fakers - hurt his poor little pinkie, forgoing surgery
Joakim Noah - Chicago Bulls - ankle injury, currently probable for the start of the year
Monta Ellis - Golden State Warriors - ankle, out until at least early November
Jason Collins - Minnesota Timberwolves - elbow, out until at least December
Danillo Gallinari - NY Knickerbockers - back, questionable for training camp
Mouhamed Sene - OKC THUNDER! - knee, may miss entire season
Channing Frye - Portland Trailblazers - ankle, out until at least late October

Now while that list isn’t everybody, it was some of the major ones that could/should affect the teams at the start of the season. Do you realize that the Utah Jazz are due for a big injury? I mean we’ve been pretty fortunate while some teams have been downright unlucky.  Currently the Jazz list two players on their injury report:

Matt Harpring - ankle, questionable for start of training camp
Paul Millsap - thumb, should be ready for training camp

One more injury I wanted to add to this list:

- Sean May - Charlotte Bobcats - former lottery pick, whom has yet to really play any NBA ball due to being hit by the injury train, has been rumored to be considering retirement if he has a poor training camp. This is a shame if you ever saw him play for the North Carolina Tarheels, did he come out of college to soon? Would that have prevented his injuries altogether?

Feel free to add injuries as they occur, or are updated in the comments section.

so they say.

i should add that a psychic friend of mine said the jazz would have a major injury last year and typically she’s a year early on her predictions.

i’m already soaking my torches in oil and sharpening my pitchfork to run you out of town if d-will tears an ACL or something.

Why must you even blog about such things!

I don’t think you are very popular right now!!!!!!!! First you refuse to wear pink because it hurts your manhood and then you predict injuries. Shame on you! Your phychic was really talking about some other team. I think if there is a bad injury this year all bloggers should run you out of town and not towards Idaho.

I am really excited about the pre-season games. In the set-up we have, we get to draw for 12 games and our first one is for the first home pre-season game. Hooray. Go Healthy JAZZ!!

look out linda! i do have a lot of family up in idaho!

but i say this: don’t get all huffy at me, get angry at the system!

… or something like that.

see you at the preseason game!

Hey Jared. I don’t mean to sound huffy but it was you that brought up the dreaded thought of injury! If we have to speak about of injuries (bad word) there is an article by Arenas about his knee surgery that is pretty good reading. By the way, what part of Idaho?

JayD on September 19, 2008 said:

Yea , there are some fans here in Idaho . I may have Utah blood raging through my veins , but I do live in Idaho .
By the way we already had AK get hurt badly in that one game , I cant recall who they were playing , but he got threw to the floor and hurt his hip . I say that is your injury .
I still think that this could be our year , what do ya say ?
Go Jazz !!! I cant wait !!!

idaho roots run deep! - rexburg, idaho falls, and formerly boise.
my grandpa used to own/run the C-Rex Motel in Rexburg; i hear it is now a strip mall.

Jared…I could give you a bad time about the “strip mall” but I won’t.

Wow, lots of spuds here, I live in Orem most of the year, but still own my ranch (mainly a vacation home at the moment) in Tetonia, ID. And JayD, it was the wonderful Dirk (D-head) Nowitzski who hurt AK last season. I so wish I were able bodied and a bit bigger, just so I could pound Dirk for that one. I hope that we got our share of the injury report during the offseason. But if not, we will get by, we always do in one way or another. Just remember the game where we had 2 starters down (AK and Brewer?) and CJ Miles game in and shot lights out and had the game high for points. That is the best thing about this team, is its depth. I cant wait to be in that arena on the 9th to welcome the Jazz back to the floor with my roaring approval, and to welcome home our gold medalists too! Go Jazz!!!
