Two Weeks Till Dominance

With opening night at ESA in reach, I really think it’s time to start stating the obvious (well the obvious according to an overly biased Jazz homer that has been bored out of his mind since May. How much baseball can you really watch?). We all know its coming. Call it fate, destiny, or whatever-(cue Phil Collins “In the Air Tonight”)…Utah is going to absolutely murder Denver on opening night. Mark my words, straight-up murder. This week’s pre-season game just confirmed it to me. We are too strong, we are too fast, and we are too good. Murder.
Of course, as is typical with most Thuggets fans, they are hyping this thing up, talking about how this meaningless sub-fest actually meant something, and how they are trying to send a message to the Jazz that they shouldn’t be too comfortable in the top spot of the division. Look, it does suck that CJ and the D-league all-stars couldn’t knock you guys off in overtime (I was really pulling for them…), but were you watching the first of the game when the big boys were playing? Did you see how much faster the SLC boys are this year? Did you see how they already look like they are 30 games deep into the season (minus the turn-over factor-it got ugly)? Overall, did you see how much better this team already looks than last year’s squad (and that team wasn’t too shabby). It would honestly be better for you to just give us the win on the 29th. Take a break. Rest up for the Halloween game against the Clippers. Go to L.A. early and hit up Disneyland.
On the bright side for Denver though, I did notice that the mile-high gangstas did get a little more thuggish in the off season. Kenyon Martin added another 65 tats to his hide (at this point its just tattoo on top of tattoo) in his quest to become the most decorated athlete in the history of professional sports. Iverson (on the bench) and Melo had their usual street cred earned “ora’s”. Oh and I can’t wait to add Chris Anderson to the mix. Don’t forget J.R. Smith, Chucky Atkins, and Anthony Carter. Pretty soon you will have to be 18 to purchase tickets at the Pepsi Center.
In the Denver Post Woody Paige opened an article by saying “Beat Utah” about 20 times in a row and then made the claim that if Denver wants to win a playoff series this year, they need to beat the Jazz 8 times…four in the regular season, and four in the playoffs. He suggests that the regular season wins will give them the number 1 spot in the Northwest, and a guaranteed 4th seed to play the number 5 seed Jazz. Beside all of the obvious assumptions that such a claim ascertains, you also need to use some common sense Woody. Denver is going to beat us 8 straight times?! Really?? I am biased in my own right, but that’s just bad. Maybe after that, Melo can bring all of the world leaders together for a conference at his pad to work out that world peace issue, while Iverson develops a cure for cancer, and George Karl discovers an efficient, cheap alternative to oil; it just ain’t happenin.
See you on opening night Denver-20,000 of us will be waiting.

I feel the same way…it was like a knife in the back when I saw him go down. I guess all we can do is pray for the best. I really do think he will play opening night-well I hope anyway.

I’d feel a lot better if they hadn’t had to help Williams off the floor the other night. He is a tough guy but you can’t play on a sprained ankle if you want it to get better and most of the time it takes awhile to get better! The ______ pre-season games!
